Restore Britain and Selective Outrage
I’ve seen quite a few Restore Britain supporters and councillors defending Russell Brand, the convicted rapist.
One woman dismissing victims with ‘regret isn’t rape’. A Restore councillor practically delivering a monologue on Russell Brand’s innocence. Others questioning historical allegations.
Would you extend that same defence to the convicted Pakistani grooming gang perpetrators? Or does your sympathy depend on their ethnicity and religion?
Brand was once idolised by the left and the Labour Party. Now sections of the right are defending him because he’s embraced Christianity. His faith is between him and God. His conviction is a matter of fact.
I’m a Christian. I don’t defend rapists. White, black, brown, Christian, Muslim or Jewish. Nobody gets a free pass.
And that applies equally to the Priests or the Reform councillor facing allegations. He deserves due process, but if convicted, I’ll condemn him just as firmly.
No selective outrage. No convenient exceptions. No defending rapists because they happen to share your politics or religion.
That’s the difference between me and thee!

Serving in the British Armed Forces has been the single greatest honour of my life.
During my 40-year career, I have been posted all over the world, from Sierra Leone to Mogadishu, going from one extreme to the other – conducting Arctic warfare in -30C conditions one minute to undergoing months of gruelling desert training in sweltering 50C heat the next.
There have been hairy times, such as a six-month tour in the IRA stronghold of Crossmaglen, one the most dangerous postings for the British Army during The Troubles.
There have also been extremely tough times.
In Afghanistan, I was among the body-recovery team for RAF Nimrod, which crashed near Kandahar following a catastrophic mid-flight fire, killing 14 service personnel.
The devastation I saw will stay with me to my dying day.
But undoubtedly the most challenging aspect of military life has been enduring the way in which successive governments have treated our Armed Forces.
To politicians, we are almost an afterthought, which is why they fail to provide the equipment, funding and resources our brave men and women need.
Meanwhile, we see the disgraceful treatment of our veterans, who face prosecution from activist lawyers and the political establishment merely for doing their jobs under extreme pressures.
Which is why I have chosen to leave the military and join Reform UK as its first Spokesman for the Armed Forces.
I can no longer stand by and see service personnel being expected to operate in increasingly demanding and dangerous circumstances, often separated from their families for long periods and putting their lives on the line, while time and again being left feeling undervalued, under-resourced and forgotten.
Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, defence spending has dwindled to unworkable levels. When I signed up in 1986 aged 18, the Armed Forces had 330,000 service personnel.
Today, the combined personnel of the Army, Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force stands at 148,000 – barely enough to fill two Premier League football stadiums.
Watching the decline over the past five years from inside the Ministry of Defence has been particularly difficult.
Each year budgets have shrunk and every time we have asked governments the same questions: What do you want us to cut? What is it that you think we no longer require?
The answer from Whitehall has always been the same: That’s your call.
What made matters worse was when we looked around and saw where taxpayer money was going. Britain spends £330billion on welfare compared to just £60billion on defence.
Andy Burnham insists national security cannot come at the expense of our social security – but how can you have one without the other?
As for procurement, it has become a byword for waste, delay and indecision.
Troops are promised world-class equipment but years later, those same projects are often running late, are significantly over-budget or have failed to deliver the capabilities originally pledged.
Equipment for Ukraine can be sourced, tested and delivered in less than eight weeks.
The same process for British defence would take ten years, when the world has never been more dangerous in my lifetime.
This is because our system has to be totally risk-averse and decision making is managed through huge committees.
All this indecision has now come back to haunt us.
While long-term defence modernisation remains essential, the immediate priority must be ensuring that the Armed Forces are equipped and resourced to respond effectively to a crisis at short notice.
This means urgently expanding our current supplies and producing more kit quickly.
Make no mistake, Britain must prepare for the possibility of a major conflict. The threat from Russia over the next five years remains very real.
I have zero belief that the old parties will fix this. Reform is the only organisation I trust to make the changes we desperately need.
Yesssssss @Nigel_Farage 🙌🍺

Followers, I cannot recommend enough to you all to take a listen to the words spoken by @AngusReform on the latest @reformparty_uk Podcast released today.
I found it such an informative and well structured interview conducted by the amazing @rayaddisonlive He asks Angus the important questions about our hollowed out defence, our lack of preparedness from our current and previous governments and the disgusting treatment of our service personnel.
In the podcast Angus explains his experience and knowledge of forty years of service and his concerns over illegal migration, threats from hostile countries and the current state of our National Security.
He sets out his plan with Reform UK for the first 100 Days and in my opinion is the best man for the job. Thank you for serving and stepping up into a role in politics for the good of our country.
Congratulations on your appointment as Shadow Armed Forces Minister, Lord knows our country needs you!

Britain is broken because it's run by useless, career politicians.
Angus MacIntyre, our new Shadow Armed Forces Minister, has served our military for 40 years.
If you want to fix Britain, join Reform today.
Welcome to Reform @AngusReform

I joined the Army in 1986 and then the RAF Regiment in 1999. I served in Northern Ireland, Arctic Norway, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia.
In that time I watched successive governments decimate our armed forces, and now even prosecute our veterans.
That’s why I’ve given up my job as Wing Commander to join Reform and fight for our armed forces.

Angus MacIntyre is Reform UK’s Shadow Armed Forces Minister.
Angus stood down as a commissioned Wing Commander in the Royal Air Force last week to reverse the damage successive Tory and Labour governments have inflicted on our Armed Forces.
Tune in at 2pm to hear more about the experience Angus brings to this role and his plans to rebuild our Armed Forces.

I will introduce Reform's Shadow Armed Forces Minister, Wing Commander Angus MacIntyre, LIVE at 2pm.
Angus has more experience than the entire government defence team combined.
He has served in Arctic Norway, Northern Ireland, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Iraq and Somalia.
The Tories and Labour have decimated our Armed Forces and betrayed those who have risked their lives for our country.
Reform UK will rebuild our Armed Forces and right these terrible wrongs.
Tune in at 2pm to hear more about the brilliant work Angus will be doing.

I had two plumbers in today fixing my boiler, one in his fifties and a 16-year-old apprentice.
They spotted my Reform beer mat and we got chatting. The young lad said, ‘All my mates from college are voting Reform. We can’t wait. We’ve had enough.’
He spoke about immigration, employment prospects and why he didn’t want to attend university because of its left-wing culture. The older chap shared concerns about immigration and the future for his children.
Don’t underestimate the youth of today. They’re paying attention, asking questions and forming their own opinions.
Get out and talk to people. You’ll learn far more than you will in an X echo chamber.

When I first raised Poundland last week, I was told by Westminster talking heads and the Tories that it was certainly “kaput” and the 12,000 jobs must all inevitably go. Some leaned in, arguing the “creative destruction” would be good.
Others made a stupid straw man argument that I was proposing to nationalise it. As if you can’t even question bosses when so much is at stake.
They showed scant interest in the workers, suppliers or frankly the taxpayer.
My point was, and remains, why should a business be put into administration when there appears to be multiple offers to buy it as a going concern on the table?
That doesn’t seem to be in the best interest of the taxpayer, the workers or the suppliers. The taxpayer alone stands to lose hundreds of millions if this business needlessly goes under with unpaid taxes and benefits.
And since I made this argument, we’ve learnt of more potential offers. There has been another in the last 24 hours. As of today, there appear to be at least three bidders - maybe four. I can’t opine on their credibility, but it doesn’t suggest Poundland is “kaput”.
Gordon Brothers haven’t responded to my letter. They need to account for their actions. I’m pleased my intervention has promoted others to enter the fray, in government and in parliament.
A government that cares about working people asks searching questions in these situations. It doesn’t throw workers to the wolves. That’s not anti-business, contrary to what some out of touch ideologues say.
You can bet they would take a different view if it was a different type of business to Poundland. The employees of firms like this are to them, as a former Prime Minister once said to me when I was arguing over a similar point, “just fungible low wage workers”.
Reform UK is the party of working people. We’ll unashamedly stand up for them. To defend free markets, you sometimes have to expose their excesses.
Let’s hope raising this can save as many jobs as possible at Poundland this Christmas.
You deserve it @PatrickChristys 👏👍

"I know you’re having to be very careful with every £ you spend."
In this budget Plaid have allocated millions on planting trees in Uganda, an anti racist metaverse project, and continuing the Nation of Sanctuary project which does not put the people of Wales first.
Let’s be honest, for so many people, life isn’t easy at the moment.
I know you’re having to be very careful with every £ you spend.
Your @Plaid_Cymru Welsh Government is taking the same approach.
That’s why our supplementary budget invests more in the things that matter to you:
The NHS; Childcare; Additonal Learning Needs; Social housing; Free school meals…and so much more.
Plaid Cymru isn’t campaigning for tomorrow; we’re governing for today and putting your priorities first.
