School Choice Enrollment is on the rise. Read more from IRG:

Wisconsin parents are demanding more educational options.
New enrollment data show 2,507 more students are participating in the state’s school choice programs this year, while independent charter schools added 3,908 students. Both grew faster than last year, even as Wisconsin’s overall student population continues to decline.
Families are voting with their feet. Wisconsin should expand access to excellent schools, not take options away from parents.

Wisconsin absolutely should work to eliminate the personal income tax. It’s how we draw new people and capital into the state, turn around the demographic decline, get more kids into our schools, and grow revenues. The status quo tax system pushes people and their incomes to other states. reforminggovernment.org/new-…
NEW REPORT: Who funds UW–Madison’s BadgersVote Coalition, and how is the money spent?
Our new report raises questions about private sponsorship and ties to election officials. IRG is calling for a full financial audit and legislative oversight.

Under Gov. @ScottWalker, Wisconsin agencies had clear public records standards, tracked response times and reported results publicly.
Under @GovEvers, those standards and the public dashboard were abandoned.
Now, transparency is suffering.

“Any requester that is forced to wait on a public records response is waiting for something the law already says is theirs. A years-long wait is simply a denial with a friendlier name.”

Wisconsin is only a quarter of the way through opioid settlement payments scheduled through 2038. Yet no state agency directly audits local spending.
An IRG report calls for stronger rules, detailed reporting, and a searchable public portal.

A new report by @ReformingGovt finds that Wisconsin continues losing taxpaying citizens to states with lower taxes. They use IRS data to find 57,438 taxpayers left WI in 2023, taking with them $2.83 billion in income. reforminggovernment.org/wp-c…
Where is Wisconsin’s opioid settlement money going?
Records show funds spent on surveillance cameras, rent, gas cards, and student-loan forgiveness, while millions sit idle.

New IRG analysis: Wisconsin lost $400M+ in state and local tax revenue in 2023 and $3.5B over the past decade as residents moved away.
Most went to states with a flat or no income tax.
Wisconsin can’t out-tax its neighbors and expect people to stay.

😲 state government should be open to inspection and oversight by the public- but that can only happen if agencies fulfill basic open records duties and respond to requesters. We asked 19 executive branch offices and agencies for the results of how they fulfill public records requests over the last 2+ years. The results are not good. irgcourtwatch.org/agency-sun… @JacobJCurtis @ReformingGovt
🚨 NEW: Most Wisconsin state agencies tested by IRG failed the State’s own public records performance test.
7 of 13 scored offices failed, including the Governor’s Office, DOJ, and Secretary of State.

IRG has asked a federal court to strike down Wisconsin rules that permanently prohibit people from discussing their own judicial complaints, even after the Judicial Commission has finished its investigation and closed the case.
This issue extends far beyond IRG. Every Wisconsinite who brings a complaint to the Commission could surrender the right to speak about it indefinitely.
We are not asking the court to reopen the investigation. We are asking for the right to speak.
