Saudi Arabia ranked second on REMARKS OPV’s daily Political Violence Index, reaching that position for the first time in our recorded monitoring history.
The ranking followed the recorded attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, with 12 reported killed and 309 wounded, temporary airport closure and flight diversions.
REMARKS OPV recorded seven airport-related incidents during 5-11 October, compared with two Saudi incidents the previous week, a 250% increase in recorded incident volume.
Infrastructure & Services, particularly aviation, was the dominant directly affected sector, with implications for passenger safety, personnel movement, and business continuity.
Additional concerns include warnings to international airlines, threats to Saudi oil-sector workers, retaliatory military activity and signals of possible wider foreign involvement.
Saudi Arabia’s calculated 90-day Country Outlook is Critical (80/100), an analytical outlook score, not an attack probability.
Ranking context: second daily (10 October), fourth weekly, and ninth on the default rolling index. The daily ranking reflects acute escalation, not overall global risk standing.
Near-term assessment: Aviation disruption remains the primary planning concern. Energy infrastructure risks and wider military escalation warrant monitoring but remain scenarios, not confirmed outcomes.
Organizations with Saudi exposure should verify travel conditions, review continuity plans, and distinguish recorded impacts from threats and claims.

The threat in Yemen is defined by how three operational theatres interact:
1-Yemen Battlefield: Territorial changes driving operational positioning
2-Bab al-Mandeb: Geographic leverage on critical shipping corridors
3-Saudi Strategic Depth: Missile & UAV reach widening toward capital & energy targets
Behind this escalation is a dedicated network structure led by Abdul-Malik al-Houthi and underpinned by external support lines, financial nodes, and procurement channels.
At REMARKS OPV, we don't just report headline news. We map actor networks, capabilities, and escalation indicators so risk teams see the pattern before it becomes obvious.

The Houthi campaign is not simply intensifying. It is compressing in time.
REMARKS OPV recorded 5 direct incidents in July, 13 in August, and 15 during the first 19 days of September 2026.
The significance is not only the increase in activity. It is the shrinking interval between incidents. Once the partial September period is accounted for, the daily incident tempo is roughly five times July's pace.
The graphic captures both dimensions: rising incident volume above, and the accelerating operating rhythm below.
This is campaign compression: pressure building not only through more activity, but through activity occurring increasingly close together.

Settler violence is not just a sequence of incidents. The value lies in seeing the pattern behind them.
We are launching the Remarks OPV Settler Violence Tracker, a standalone intelligence product built to track, structure and analyse settler violence across the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The Tracker brings together Key Figures, an interactive map, a detailed Incident Explorer, and the Settler Incident Activity Index, a rolling 30-day measure of activity. Together, these tools make it easier to follow incidents, understand where they are happening, identify the actors involved, and see how patterns develop over time.
Rather than treating each event in isolation, the Tracker is designed to help researchers, analysts, journalists, organisations and decision-makers understand how individual incidents connect to wider patterns across geography and time.
Actuality. Metrics. Analysis.
Map the place. Read the pattern.
