The *entire point* of this scene is that Bryan’s paternal instincts overwhelm his survival instincts. It sets up the tragic irony that underpins the whole movie: the traits which would have made him a good father are the reason he’ll never become one.
One thing I’m yet to understand about the Resident Evil 2026 movie is Bryan’s stupidity in this scene. He knew she was infected, he could clearly see it, and he still went ahead to try to carry her. Like, even if Zack Cregger wants to portray Bryan as dumb, there’s an extent to which one can be dumb. He saw that same thing earlier absorb another person, and what went through his mind was that it wasn’t going to happen to him. I’m not one to backlash at a movie or a character, but this one really got on my nerves!🤧 #ResidentEvil

Part of the reason why we lost Corpse Husband and why Ironmouse and other VTubers are too scared to do a face reveal. Kindness is always free. Some childish mindsets just can't help but expose how disgusting they are. – at Sydney, New South Wales
