Everyone has AI now. So why are some people getting better at their jobs, some are falling behind, and some are just using ChatGPT to write longer emails? 😂 Same tools. Very different outcomes. I think about this a lot, especially when I watch businesses rush to adopt AI. We’re buying subscriptions, collecting prompts, testing agents and adding “AI-powered” to our bios. But ask a simpler question: What can you do today that you couldn’t do a year ago? Can you solve a problem faster? Serve more customers without burning out? Make better decisions with less information? Build something that used to require a whole team? Or have you simply found a more sophisticated way to do the same work? Like 3 more hours longer. The scenic route to a cold dinner. 🫠 There’s a difference between using AI to complete a task and using it to rethink why that task exists in the first place. One person uses AI to write six follow-up emails. Another redesigns the process so six follow-up emails are no longer necessary. One saves ten minutes. The other eliminates a problem. And as the cost of producing work keeps falling, I suspect the real advantage won’t be who has access to the best tools. It’ll be who knows what to build with them, what not to trust them with, and how to turn the output into something people actually value. That’s why I’m particularly interested in how AI is changing professional work beyond the prompts and product demos.
