I have a message for President Trump: the money you are withholding from the SNAP program is not yours to withhold. It belongs to the American taxpayers.
Release the funds now.
Big things are happening in the City of Walker!! Did someone say North Beltline? Yes, please! [hard stop] I'm looking forward to to working with these great leaders to keep this incredible city keep moving forward!
Kentwood’s new Community Center is officially open!
I toured the new facility and met with city leaders to discuss Kentwood’s priorities and how we can continue investing in the community. Spaces like this bring neighbors together and give families more opportunities to stay active and connected.
I’m proud to work alongside local leaders to bring resources back to West Michigan and help our communities keep moving forward.
I visited Hope Network’s Center for Autism in Kentwood to learn more about the services they provide to individuals with autism and their families across West Michigan. I’m grateful to the staff who work every day to help people build skills, gain independence, and live fuller lives.
Grand Valley State University and Van Andel Institute are bringing AI and biomedical research together to accelerate discoveries in the fight against diseases like cancer. Exciting work happening right here in our community!

I met with the team at Feeding America West Michigan to hear how they’re serving our communities and how federal policy changes are affecting their work. With more families at risk of losing food assistance, I’ll keep fighting to protect access to nutritious food and support the organizations helping our neighbors.
West Michigan needs reliable, affordable energy to keep our homes heated, our lights on, and our businesses running. It’s not only a critical matter of affordability, it’s a matter of national security. I joined energy leaders in Muskegon to discuss how we can strengthen American energy production, streamline permitting, and keep costs down for families and businesses while protecting Michigan’s Great Lakes and natural resources.
Thank you to the Trinity Health Grand Haven team for meeting with me to discuss the challenges facing hospitals and West Michigan families. I’ll keep working to lower costs for patients and protect access to quality care in our communities.
Encouraging the next generation of public servants starts in our own West Michigan classrooms. Thanks to the government students at Fruitport High School for their thoughtful questions about Congress and the role they can play in shaping their communities.
From Grand Rapids to the far side of the moon! 🚀 Christina Koch’s NASA uniform is now on display at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. Proud to see a West Michigan native’s historic journey inspiring the next generation of explorers.

Michigan’s forests, lakes, and public lands are part of what makes our state so special. Thank you to the Michigan DNR firefighters and crews working under dangerous conditions to contain wildfires in the Upper Peninsula and protect the places we all love. We’re grateful for your service.

Football Saturday in Michigan! 🏈
Cheering on both the Wolverines and Spartans this weekend. Go Blue and Go Green!
UPDATE: I’m glad the DSA listened and responded to my call to condemn these threats and directly refute responsibility. We need to see this more quickly, clearly, and often from the DSA. Extremism cannot be encouraged, tolerated, or even ignored, especially when public servants and their staff are targeted.

Today, I received a threatening letter at my Grand Rapids, Michigan office that contained unidentified white powder. The letter, which claimed to be from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), made a direct and specific reference to an impending “civil war” beginning after the election. The letter sent to my office is similar to those received at other congressional offices across the country. The DSA has not yet addressed the attacks, either to condemn them or to take or deny responsibility. The Grand Rapids Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) responded immediately.
Threats and extremism are not signs of strength—they are signs of a weak mind and weak character. Political intimidation has no place in our democracy, and leaders must condemn it, not excuse it. I’ll keep standing up to bullies on the right and the left.

Michigan’s lakes and rivers are a big part of what makes West Michigan home. I enjoyed walking through Roselle Park with the League of Conservation Voters and discussing how we can protect our wetlands, keep our water clean, and preserve these natural resources for future generations.
I had a great conversation with Cascade Township leaders about the issues affecting their community, from PFAS contamination to local housing and parks. Hearing directly from local leaders helps me understand what West Michigan needs and how I can work to deliver results.
Whether it’s a delayed passport, issues with Social Security or the IRS, or trouble navigating a federal agency, my office is here to help. If you or someone you know needs assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to my team at 616-451-8383.
Thanks to Werkman Outfitters in Ada for welcoming me! It was great to learn how their love of fishing and the Grand River inspired a family-owned business committed to protecting our local waterways.
Sending out my weekly newsletter helps me stay transparent and accountable to YOU.
