Police are investigating the first case of rape in the metaverse after a child was 'attacked' in a virtual reality video game. The headset-wearing victim did not suffer any injuries as there was no physical attack but officers said she suffered psychological & emotional trauma.

In the UK, the offence of rape cannot be committed in a virtual context. Section 1 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 describes the offence of rape as one that can only be committed in person. There is no such offence as ‘virtual rape’. legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/42/…
