.@Mainstreammedia a lot of this is accurate analysis RR says AT was a major factor for voters to rally around There were 6 legal wins in BC resources sector in run-up to the vote - 404 in total across Canada - entire provinces are under land claim - Eby lost the plot on AT
BREAKING: The DRIPA gamble, by @IndianRevisited hymie.substack.com/p/the-dri… Former provincial court judge Brian Giesbrecht says British Columbia chiefs’ rejection of the proposed amendments to the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) helped the B.C. Conservatives win the provincial election. The chiefs’ stance, following the Gitxaala case, created legal instability and forced the NDP to abandon the amendments, ultimately contributing, he claims, to the government’s collapse. While I’m not entirely convinced this was the main reason for Eby’s premature election call, I’m sure many voters decided to throw out the NDP government yesterday because they feared the now ex-premier was wrongly turning over both Crown and private lands to the remnants of mixed-race indigenous bands of formerly wandering hunters and gatherers whose ancestors had never developed fee-simple or other exclusive property rights to the territories they occupied on a short-term or occasional basis. I also believe that even if the NDP had completed their legally mandated term as the governing party in B.C., they would have lost by an even bigger margin two years from now.

.@Mainstreammedia AFN session with PM (pending) going to be a frosty session on Bills C-5 & C-39 so many major projects earmarked for the west coast Trust with AB premier is non-existant on major projects likewise BC premier hell bent on repealing UNDRIP RR says seatbelts!
22
.@Mainstreammedia CTV declares PC majority govt that referendumb in AB this week pales in comparison to this seismic shift in terms of geopolitical alignment RR says Major Projects Office (Calgary) is the biggest loser - no traction with natives once this reality sets in
29
.@Mainstreammedia CBC declares PC majority govt vote is trending 2:1 in their favour - NDP in free fall Richmond goes PC no doubt on account of AT snafu Its going to be a roller-coaster for resource projects in BC and AB PM Carney doesn't deserve this but D Smith does

.@ABDanielleSmith prediction - another native legal win
Smith confirmed she will continue to use taxpayer dollars to appeal the shutdown of the original separatist question... But regardless of the outcome, she won't ask another separation question. She wants the ruling to ensure First Nations don't have to be consulted. #abpoli

.@ABDanielleSmith has worst crown-native relationship in the country - tomorrow in BC the landscape there could rival hers should the right wingers win election RR says bad news for her b/c every MoU / resource project / pipeline will be back to the drawing board Stay tuned!
"So, I want to thank you, Danielle Smith. Why? Because today we stand united, we're not going anywhere... if you have problems with first nations, you can leave." Piikani First Nation Chief Troy Knowlton does not mince words on Bill 54 and a lack of Indigenous consulation.

.@Mainstreammedia that didn't take long ... Another RR prediction comes true - I warned that the Gulf Coast would look askance at dilbit from Canada - now we see a significant dilbit discount that I suspect is here to stay - can't blame this on Ottawa theglobeandmail.com/business…

.@garymasonglobe -RR says required reading theglobeandmail.com/opinion/… Not surprisingly Road to Resources is sprinkled with this type of lawyer - every DoJ/Corp law firm/BigOil - has one hiding with like minded naysayers - this explains why natives win 100% of procedural rulings!
52
.@garymasonglobe ... and antagonistic towards natives RR predicts the real wild card is the BC vote - if Eby loses then every one of the AB/BC/MPO proposed resource projects is in peril ... more to come
Smith played the separatists the same way she played the rest of us about fixing healthcare in 90 days. She gave the appearance of doing something, while doing absolutely nothing for you & picking your pocket at the same time. The UCP is outright antagonistic towards Albertans.
29
.@Mainstreammedia he's talking about Native backbone Not everyday does an AG write a sitting judge to wrap it up in a precedent-setting trial on referendum impacts Not everyday does a premier tell native leadership to 'check themselves' when they question her motives
Naheed Nenshi on Indigenous turnout in the Alberta referendum: "The very people who've been hurt more by the mistakes of Canada than anybody else, stood up as the proudest champions of Canada."

.@Mainstreammedia countdown has started RR former AB lawyer tracks the rise of native empowerment - says her demise started with her dissin' natives -they will now show her the door Prediction - she will become the 5th premier to lose office on account of running afoul ....
To save her political skin she gambled with one of the greatest nations that's ever existed.

.@Mainstreammedia UNDRIP 65: These provisions contemplate future action, not an immediate implementation of the articles as set out in UNDRIP into Canadian law.

.@Mainsstreammedia UNDRIP takes big judicial hit RR has yet to read FCA ruling but says this analysis rings true. UNDRIP is way over-emphasized by the native empowerment movement (IMO) when Canadian law is now so well developed to protect native rights aptnnews.ca/national-news/ke…

.@Mainstreammedia see 2nd book 'C is for Conquered' Alton Gas project died on this very pétard when the NS Gov't stepped-in-it in legal filings - APTN. headline: 'Mi'kmaq are conquered people' says NS govt lawyer' RR says this is how projects die on the road to resources
34
.@Mainstreammedia Bill C-39 (Rubik's Cube breakout) Another massive Omnibus Bill - one thing is clear - PMO is engineering a complete by-pass of the feet-of-clay bureaucracy - for good reason RR says to industry - make your deal with natives first! theglobeandmail.com/politics…

.@Mainstreammedia state of affairs has it backwards US is not about health care - it's about gun care US is not about gun control - it's about health control fixed it!
I think about this often.
