Andre Drummond looks like the perfect Mitch replacement.
All offseason, the one thing our critics kept coming back to was losing Mitch Robinson, the defensive anchor off our bench.
We brought back basically the same group that just went on one of the most dominant postseason runs this league has ever seen, but that was still a fair point.
Then Drummond walked onto the Garden floor for his first game in orange and blue, against the team he just left, and proved he's no pushover. He owned the glass from the jump and reminded everybody he's still one of the best rebounders in the league.
And this is the floor, not the ceiling. The more he plays with this group, the better it's going to look.
He had the Garden chanting his name before halftime of his first game. That doesn't happen to many guys in this building.
Welcome to the Knicks, Dre.

Amazing take on the Knkcks opening for this season!
Top 10 Takeaways from opening night.
1. Both teams looked sloppy.
They definitley played like it was the first night of the season, because it was. First game jitters greasing up the wheel on both sides.
2. Embiid is absolutely cooked, no doubt about it.
This wasn't rust. Everybody shakes off rust in October, but his legs are shot. He couldn't make a shot, every decision with the ball was the wrong one, and he was a step late getting up and down the floor all night. The former MVP is turning into a Brook Lopez type on offense, parked out there waiting on a kick out.
3. Ring night was everything we waited 53 years for.
Clyde handing out the rings, the banner going up, the whole building chanting for OG. 53 years of heartbreak lifted into the rafters in front of the whole country. No result was ever taking that away.
4. We left a lot of points on the table.
Wide open looks rimming out, lazy passes turning into run outs the other way. None of it worries me. This team can shoot, and once the legs and the rhythm come back, those shots start falling in bunches.
5. Philly's best player isn't Jaylen Brown, LeBron or Embiid.
It's Maxey, and it's not close. I don't think there's one player in the league that can prevent him from getting into the paint. He's easily the biggest beneficiary of LeBron joining the Sixers. Gotta give credit where it's due.
6. This bench is going to win us a lot of games.
They won their minutes on a night when nothing would drop. When those shots fall, nobody's second unit is touching ours.
7. Alvarado is an absolute dog.
Every possession he's on somebody's hip, picking pockets, talking, making guys miserable. That's who he is every single night.
8. Andre Drummond is as good a replacement for Mitch as you can get.
The guy who just left Philly walks out against his old team and owns the glass. The Garden was chanting his name before halftime.
9. KAT keeps proving he's the best big in the East.
He punished them inside and out. Nobody in this conference pulls a center out to the arc and then beats him up in the paint. The only guy doing that out West is Jokic.
10. KAT has to stop picking up those early fouls. When he's on the floor, this offense is a different animal. Reaching in the first few minutes and sitting on the bench is the one thing that can slow him down, and Philly knew it.
One loss in October doesn't change what this group is. The banner is in the rafters, and the next one starts with games like this.
