Here is the final version of my thread about 19th century commentary on the Second Amendment. This version is cleaned up and includes sources for nearly everything. I did it a 3rd time because a typo at the start of version 2 bothered me way too much. teapawt.org/MorosKostas/status/164…
This thread covers 19th century views on the Second Amendment. It's a revised version of a prior thread, with the biggest change being the links to most of the sources, as well as some corrected typos. This first excerpt is from William Rawle. google.com/books/edition/A_V…

Harvard often congratulates itself for its courage in standing up to the supposed authoritarian Trump administration. And yet it recently saw its endowment soar on the basis of an investment in Elon Musk’s SpaceX valued at $2.2 billion, the Free Beacon’s @IraStoll reports. The SpaceX stake, disclosed in a quarterly SEC filing in August, got renewed attention with this month’s release of Harvard’s annual financial report claiming a 27.1 percent return for the year thanks in large part to Musk.

the Constitution is a restraining order. like all restraining orders, it is only paper. the subject of a restraining order can never be trusted to abide by the order. therefore, the protectee must ALWAYS be prepared to enforce the order, themselves. Hence The Second Amendment

Bad laws get people killed. The NFA was designed to harass Americans into not exercising their 2A rights and to imprison those who do. Imagine getting a 10 year federal prison sentence because your barrel was couple inches too short or having your family slaughtered over it.
Randy Weaver passed in 2022, but imagine if he found out that as of today you can just make an SBS?! All of that over a hacksaw…

I love how Americans still believe a glock and an AR-15 are gonna protect them against a tyrannical government lol

This simply is not true. There is no "intoxication loophole." An intoxicated person can still withdraw or fail to give consent... by simply saying No. This loophole nonsense makes it sound like intoxicated people are presumed to be consenting, which is not the case. The law just states that an intoxicated person who says Yes is not actually saying No, from a legal standpoint. Bad that Abdul El-Sayed doesn't understand this, and especially bad that Kathy Hochul doesn't either.
A young woman bravely reported that she was sexually assaulted in 2024 by seven men at their fraternity. But instead of protecting her, Cornell University protected her abusers, letting them off with a slap on the wrist. It’s outrageous and a failure of both the institution and a societal norm that consistently makes light of sexual assault. The law isn’t helping. New York’s voluntary intoxication loophole makes it nearly impossible for survivors to seek justice if they drank or used substances prior to an assault. Because of this loophole, Jane Doe’s assailants may never be held accountable under the law. I want my daughters to grow up in a world that is safe. Women deserve to feel safe on campus. That means perpetrators must be held accountable for violating women to the fullest extent of the law. And we need federal action to ensure that those who commit sexual assault and the institutions that protect them face consequences.

women can never be held accountable for their actions. from murdering 3 children in cold blood to ketamine gangbangs. they are just helpless innocent babes in the woods, perpetual victims of the universe. the only crime they can truly commit is being attractive in a sports ad

CNN (Lean Left) hosted a gubernatorial debate in California on Wednesday. LA Times (Lean Left) said it was a "blowout" in favor of the Democrat, Xavier Becerra, while The New York Post (Right) said the Republican Steve Hilton "battered" Becerra. Read more: allsides.com/story/politics-…

You all better show up big in November! Show them that it's worth helping us as we'll reward them for it. Losing the House is probably unavoidable, but a strong gun owners vote could swing some close senate races, and holding the Senate means holding the judicial confirmation process.
President Trump is personally protecting our right to own silencers and short-barreled firearms and you’re blackpilling?

The New York Times coverage of the Gaza-Israel war was grossly pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel, according to a peer-reviewed study. Jewish casualties were omitted or minimized while Palestinian casualties were amplified and misrepresented. Yale University Professor Edieal Pinker published the review in the an academic journal Studies in Conflict & Terrorism. His peer-reviewed research quantitatively evaluated 1,559 New York Times articles published between October 7, 2023, and June 7, 2024, to assess potential narrative imbalances. The study found that: - 91% of the analyzed articles failed to mention Israeli casualties that occurred after October 7. - 1,423 articles completely omitted mentions of both Israeli post-Oct. 7 casualties and Hamas combatant deaths. - 50% of the articles did not reference the Israeli hostages held by Hamas during the fighting, and 41% omitted mentions of the Israeli casualties from the initial October 7 attack itself. - Personal stories highlighting Palestinian and Lebanese suffering appeared on average two out of every three days. Comparable accounts of Israeli suffering unrelated directly to the October 7 events appeared in very few articles. - The word "Israel" appeared 27,205 times across the dataset, compared to just 8,499 mentions of "Hamas," meaning Israel was mentioned more than three times as often. This statistical discrepancy places near-exclusive agency and responsibility on Israel while severely diminishing Hamas's role in sustaining the conflict. Pinker concluded that these consistent editorial choices cultivated a dominant narrative portraying Israel as the sole aggressor facing few consequences beyond losing international sympathy, while Palestinians were predominantly framed as passive victims. He argues that the coverage deprives readers of a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing combat dynamics and the continuous nature of Israeli losses. Following the initial release of the study data, The New York Times publicly defended its reporting, claiming it has covered the war with rigor and from all angles. Of course my commentary on their reporting shows that this defense is hot garbage. The New York Times buried the Holocaust in the back pages and then doubled down on downplaying Jewish suffering after October 7. They are a disgusting business that should be boycotted.

Wow. The Supreme Court agreed to hear a case about whether a person who could be deported due to an aggravated felony could be held without bail pending deportation. Three days before the brief was due, Governor @GovKathyHochul *pardoned* the felon to end the case. Case dismissed
