Good to know that Biden realizes that. Now to see if he realizes the duty that status confers. The United States cannot lead from behind as dictators and terrorists destabilize the world order.
Incredible days when the Democratic Party has more Reagan in them then the defeatist remnants of the GOP. 60 Minutes: "Can we handle both Ukraine and Israel?" Biden: "We're the United States of America for God's sake. The most powerful nation in the history of the world."

'Antigravity' in Newton's theory means masses repel each other. In Einsteins theory the implications are more severe. Newton's grav force is very similar to Coulomb force. The 'charges' in Newton's law are masses. If there was a negative mass it would repel pos masses 🧵 1/6

I'm a lifelong Republican. Along with countless "Reagan Republicans," and like many other rational Americans, I fully support arming #Ukraine. Not only to the inexplicably half-hearted extent we've done so far, but to the extent necessary for Ukrainians to drive all Russian invaders out of their sovereign territory (including Crimea and all of Donbas) as soon as possible. Here's why: Vladimir #Putin hates the West in general and the United States in particular. (He always has.) Putin holds US intelligence services responsible for the collapse of the decrepit, bankrupt, and thoroughly corrupt Soviet Union. Today, Russian hackers meddle in our elections, penetrate our critical infrastructure, and use ransomware to rob us. This is Putin's Russia. Today, Putin's "best buds" are China's #XiJinping, North Korea's #KimJongUn, and the brutal mullahs that rule Iran. Aiding Ukraine enables us to counter Vladimir Putin at the cost of NO American lives and only five percent of our defense budget. Not less important as a reason for us to aid Ukraine is that Ukraine was a peaceful, sovereign country that was invaded and brutalized by an authoritarian regime that simply couldn't stomach the thought of an economically successful and politically free neighbor aligning itself with the West.
The main argument for American support of the war is not that it helps Ukrainians but that it hurts Russians. Just watch the video. teapawt.org/GOP4Ukraine/status/170…

George Green is the Ramanujan of physics. Born to a miller in Nottingham, Green himself took up the trade and was largely self-educated. At 35, he rented out his mill and penned "An Essay on the Application of Mathematical Analysis to the Theories of Electricity and Magnetism." In this work, he introduced what are now known as Green's formula, the Green function, and potential, laying the groundwork for potential theory. He self-published this essay as a small booklet, with the financial support of friends. Only after this accomplishment did he attend Cambridge to obtain a formal education. There, he authored a few more papers on mathematical physics, though his initial work remains his most renowned. Tragically, he passed away at 48. Later historians delved into the resources available to Green during his self-education in Nottingham. Among their findings was an intriguing entry in the local gentlemen's club library: Laplace's "Traité de mécanique céleste." If this was the cornerstone of his learning, it remains a mystery how he mastered French, given that he had never attended school prior to writing his seminal work.

Jesse Owens of USA winning gold for the long jump in the summer Olympics in Germany, 1936.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The man saluting behind Owens is Lutz Long, a German who shared training tips with Owens and was the first to openly congratulate him after his final jump in full view of Hitler. After the Olympics, the two kept in touch via mail. Below is Long's last letter to Owens while he was stationed with the German Army in North Africa during World War 2. Long was later killed in action during the allied invasion of Sicily in 1943.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ "I am here, Jesse, where it seems there is only the dry sand and the wet blood. I do not fear so much for myself, my friend Jesse, I fear for my woman who is home, and my young son Karl, who has never really known his father.⁣⁣ My heart tells me, if I be honest with you, that this is the last letter I shall ever write. If it is so, I ask you something. It is a something so very important to me. It is you go to Germany when this war done, someday find my Karl, and tell him about his father. Tell him, Jesse, what times were like when we not separated by war. I am saying—tell him how things can be between men on this earth.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you do this something for me, this thing that I need the most to know will be done, I do something for you, now. I tell you something I know you want to hear. And it is true.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ That hour in Berlin when I first spoke to you, when you had your knee upon the ground, I knew that you were in prayer.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Then I not know how I know. Now I do. I know it is never by chance that we come together. I come to you that hour in 1936 for purpose more than der Berliner Olympiade.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And you, I believe, will read this letter, while it should not be possible to reach you ever, for purpose more even than our friendship.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I believe this shall come about because I think now that God will make it come about. This is what I have to tell you, Jesse.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I think I might believe in God.⁣⁣ And I pray to him that, even while it should not be possible for this to reach you ever, these words I write will still be read by you.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Your brother,⁣⁣ Luz"⁣⁣

The ship known as Endurance gained significant fame during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-1917, led by the renowned explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. Frank Hurley, the expedition's photographer, captured an iconic photo of the ship amidst the Antarctic backdrop. Endurance was the vessel that carried Shackleton and his crew of 27 men (and one cat) on their journey to Antarctica. Unfortunately, their expedition faced a series of harrowing challenges. After setting sail, the ship became trapped in sea-ice for an astonishing 10 months, drifting aimlessly in the treacherous Weddell Sea. Eventually, the ship succumbed to the immense pressure of the pack ice and sank off the coast of Antarctica. Miraculously, all members of the crew managed to survive the devastating ordeal. The story of their subsequent escape on foot and in lifeboats has since become legendary, a testament to their extraordinary determination and resilience. The precise location where Endurance sank is well-documented, thanks to Captain Frank Worley's meticulous navigation records using a sextant and a theodolite. The ship rests at a depth of 3,000 meters in the Weddell Sea, situated to the east of the Larsen ice shelves on the Antarctic Peninsula. Despite the extensive knowledge of the ship's location, accessing this remote part of the Weddell Sea remains an immense challenge, even for modern ice-breakers. Nonetheless, a new expedition is planned to launch early next year with the goal of rediscovering the legendary Endurance. The conditions and state of the ship, after over a century submerged, remain uncertain and will undoubtedly add an air of anticipation to this ambitious undertaking.

How to solve a maze without AI? 🤔 Use Laplace's equation: 1. Mesh the maze 2. Set Dirichlet BCs ϕ = 0 at start and ϕ = 1 at end 3. Set homogeneous Neumann BCs everywhere else 4. Solve ∇²ϕ = 0 5. Go to the start and follow the gradient

Truth.
