Tragic this, along with Dawson’s they were brilliant places to hang around and try out so many different instruments. Of course there’s still forsyths, Johnny roadhouse amongst other indies but not having a mega place like this is a hammer blow to Manchester. @RichardCEAult
As music shops are dying I think about all the young people coming through who have never - and will never - know the 'scene' around those shops and the benefits of actually getting your hands on kit. Adios PMT. My heart goes out to those left without a job after the surprise administration.

During WW1, 346 British and Commonwealth soldiers were executed by firing squad. Many for offences such as desertion, cowardice, or quitting a post. Since 2016, 309 of these men have been pardoned, including George Everill from Staffordshire. 📍Poperinghe New Military Cemetery

I've been working with @atomless on a new public tool to help people in England work out what's going on in their local area covid-wise. It's an interactive map of PCR positivity. 🧵>>> 1/11 jamestindall.info/skeuomorph…

The sobering reality that only 11 of the 34 grassroots music venues that @Oasis played on their first tour still exist today. Gone are 23 spaces that took a punt on a new band from #Manchester who would become one of the most iconic in British music history. #Oasis #LiveMusic

A fascinating bit of analysis by @RichardCEAult in today's Northern Agenda Is Reform UK now the main opposition to Labour in the North East? They polled virtually as many votes as the Tories in the region despite not fielding candidates in two seats datawrapper.de/_/by5IW/

Unimaginably horrific scenes in Rafah last night. An Israeli airstrike hit tents housing displaced Palestinians, slaughtering men, women and children. Israel's blatant defiance of the International Court of Justice must be met with action – starting with a ban on arms sales.
