Serious Leadership, Serious Ambition Gelephu Mindfulness City recently appointed two Co-CEOs who bring genuine global weight to the role. Mr. Lee Seow Hiang, the founding CEO of Changi Airport Group who helped make Singapore's Changi the world's best airport more than 12 times over, and Mr. Pang Yee Ean, a former AIIB executive with deep infrastructure and investment expertise. These are not symbolic appointments. They signal that GMC is ready to compete on the global stage. Lee Seow Hiang (Right side in the second image) was directly affiliated with the late former Prime Minister (and Minister Mentor) Lee Kuan Yew, serving as his Principal Private Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office from 2005 to 2008. #SGstartups, #TechNews #singapore #SGtech #SmartNation #india #bhutan

A King Who Cleared Land With His Own Hands When His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck announced Gelephu mindfulness City (GMC on National Day in December 2023), he described it as "a historic turning point." What followed was remarkable - the King personally led volunteer programmes (called Zhabtog), hand-clearing the site for the new international airport alongside thousands of citizens. Over 16,000 volunteers participated in the fifth Zhabtog programme earlier this year, planting trees, restoring elephant corridors, and preparing the land. That is not how most billion-dollar city projects begin. That is a statement of values.

Bhutan is about to get a new airport. Designed by @BIG_Architects, Gelephu International will serve the country's new Gelephu Mindfulness City and feature a modular diagrid structure made of locally sourced glulam timber, decorated with traditional Bhutanese painted carvings. The airport's painted faΓ§ade draws inspiration from the β€˜Kachen’ β€” a wooden pillar revered for its structural significance and intricate design, embodying Bhutanese architectural heritage and spiritual symbolism. The airport will be capable of handling 1.3M passengers a year by 2040 and 5.5M by 2065. In a statement, Bhutan's King, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, said: β€œOur immediate priority over the next five years is the construction of a large international airport in Gelephu, which will establish the GMC as a key aviation hub. This airport is essential for the success of the GMC as a business hub, and it is also a critical lifeline for Bhutan’s national security, especially for a landlocked country.” Learn more about Bhutan's huge new mindfulness city in our hit YouTube video, that now has over 3.6M views πŸ‘‰ bit.ly/3GAeMMg πŸ“· BIG

Products expected to benefit include vehicles and auto parts, food products, textiles, chemicals, rubber and plastic products, and electrical appliances. Gelephu Mindfulness City is honoured to welcome Mr. Wu Jihan, Chairman and CEO of Bitdeer Technologies Group, together with Bitdeer’s senior leadership team, on their visit to Bhutan and GMC. @Bitdeer joins GMC as its first Corporate Founding Member, marking an important milestone in GMC’s journey to build trusted, long-term partnerships with global leaders in technology, infrastructure, and sustainable development. On April 17, 2026, GIDC and Bitdeer formalised their collaboration through an MoU to explore, invest, and develop green energy initiatives. As the owner of Le Freeport Singapore, Bitdeer also envisions establishing a world-class facility in GMC, contributing to the city’s emergence as a secure hub for high-value infrastructure. β€œBuilding on Bitdeer’s projects in Bhutan since 2023, we are proud to deepen our partnership in a country that has demonstrated remarkable vision, trust, and long-term potential. We have been especially inspired by the strength and spirit of Bhutan’s people and the clarity of its development philosophy. We believe GMC holds the promise to become a transformative economic and cultural hub for the region β€” creating opportunities across technology, infrastructure, and sustainable industry β€” and our continued commitment reflects our deep confidence in Bhutan’s future,” said Mr. Wu Jihan. #GelephuMindfulnessCity #Bhutan #GMC #Bitdeer #Innovation #GreenEnergy #SustainableDevelopment #SmartCities #GlobalPartnerships #FutureEconomy

A powerful scene in the Odyssey happens when Odysseus finally returns to Ithaca after twenty years of war and wandering. You would expect the story to end with celebration, with the hero coming home, the family reunited, and order restored. Homer does something far stranger. Odysseus arrives disguised as a beggar, because Athena warns him that the palace has been taken over by more than a hundred suitors who have been living there for years, eating his food, drinking his wine, and pressuring his wife Penelope to marry one of them. They believe Odysseus is dead and in their minds the kingdom is already theirs. So the king of Ithaca walks through his own halls dressed in rags while the men stealing his house sit comfortably at his tables. They mock him, throw scraps at him, and one of them even strikes him, and Odysseus takes it. That is the remarkable part, because the same man who blinded the Cyclops and survived twenty years of disasters now stands quietly while strangers insult him in his own home. Homer tells us his heart burns inside his chest and that he wants to attack them immediately, yet he restrains himself and waits. Instead of striking, Odysseus studies the room carefully. He counts the men, watches their habits, and quietly observes which servants remain loyal and which have betrayed him. The hero of the Odyssey does something most people cannot do, which is delay revenge until the moment is right. Eventually Penelope announces a contest and brings out Odysseus’ great bow, declaring that she will marry the man who can string it and shoot an arrow through twelve axe heads lined up in a row. One by one the suitors try and fail, because none of them can even bend the bow. Then the beggar asks for a turn. The suitors laugh at first, but the bow is eventually handed to him. Odysseus takes it in his hands and strings it effortlessly. Homer says the sound of the bowstring tightening rings through the hall like the note of a swallow. Then he places an arrow on the string and sends it cleanly through all twelve axe heads. In that moment the beggar disappears. Odysseus turns the bow toward the suitors and reveals who he is. What follows is one of the most brutal scenes in Greek literature. The doors are sealed and the suitors realize too late that they are trapped inside the hall. Odysseus, his son Telemachus, and two loyal servants begin killing them one by one. There is no escape, no mercy, and no negotiation. The men who spent years consuming another man’s house die inside it. It is a violent ending, but Homer wants you to understand something important. The real danger to Odysseus was never just the monsters and storms on the long journey home. It was the possibility that someone else might take his place while he was gone. When Odysseus finally returns, he reminds everyone in Ithaca of a simple truth: a man’s home is not truly his unless he is willing to fight for it.

Earlier today, a user attempted to buy AAVE using $50M USDT through the Aave interface. Given the unusually large size of the single order, the Aave interface, like most trading interfaces, warned the user about extraordinary slippage and required confirmation via a checkbox. The user confirmed the warning on their mobile device and proceeded with the swap, accepting the high slippage, which ultimately resulted in receiving only 324 AAVE in return. The transaction could not be moved forward without the user explicitly accepting the risk through the confirmation checkbox. The CoW Swap routers functioned as intended, and the integration followed standard industry practices. However, while the user was able to proceed with the swap, the final outcome was clearly far from optimal. Events like this do occur in DeFi, but the scale of this transaction was significantly larger than what is typically seen in the space. We sympathize with the user and will try to make a contact with the user and we will return $600K in fees collected from the transaction. The key takeaway is that while DeFi should remain open and permissionless, allowing users to perform transactions freely, there are additional guardrails the industry can build to better protect users. Our team will be investigating ways to improve these safeguards going forward.
