Any business must make enough revenue to cover its costs- hence increased costs are passed on to the consumer- in this case the tenant. So it’s actually an indirect tax on the less well off dressed up a tax on the better off so suckers cheer and applaud it. Clearly it worked!
Landlords on X are triggered as fk at the moment. Some of them seem to believe they are responsible for creating the land. Some even believe they are capitalists. They all seem to believe they are doing everyone they extract rent from a favour. I’ve yet to hear one admit their enrichment is derived from the hard work of others. Landlords 🤦‍♂️

Both Mrs Rob and I are off today, so yesterday had a big old Sunday lunch with wine and port, then off to the village pub for yet more booze. And at some point, apparently I ordered a barometer.

Just a quick bit of #F1 for a change... A game I've created and lovingly hand coded 😉 Quite complicated - A teams and B teams, make your own engine, force customers to vote how you want, negotiate with other team bosses who try to poach staff. robsbits.co.uk/pitwall/

Sunday evenings after a large roast are for getting merry in the village pub with terrific regulars and the local paper. Especially when Mrs Rob and I are off tomorrow. The ice in the wine is mine. Head bowed in shame.

Smoked salmon, roast lamb, a decent red and a 10 year late bottled vintage port for after. Then the village pub, naturally.

Terrific! Mrs Rob is preparing smoked salmon starter and lamb roast for Sunday lunch. My contribution is pouring the wine, setting the table, and loading the dishwasher.

Oh should say - desktop is the focus. May well work on mobiles/tablets but probably not as well.

The left don't mind a bias media really. They just don't want a media bias against them.
There are serious questions tonight for Lisa Nandy, who approved the sale of The Telegraph newspaper to Axel Springer, the CEO of which is on the record as saying that all employees of the group are required to support a united Europe, and anyone who doesn't should leave.

Mrs Rob has made me buy Sunday lunch from the farm shop. Anyone know a good insolvency practitioner?

“I just don’t get what went wrong here Andy. We made people have lessons by taxing them more so they’ve less to spend. We increased Poundland’s costs with the highest energy prices in Europe. Then we increased what they have to pay their staff. Then we increased their NI”
Labour government ‘baffled’ by Poundland’s collapse. I think we need educated, experienced people in government - not those that are baffled by simple economics.

This post has been really interesting. I assumed it would be entirely obvious I was being sarcastic. Yet a lot of the replies were from people on my side of politics who took it seriously and were rude and insulting. Seems both sides of politics as rude as each other. Very sad.
Typical. Bosses of huge corporations like this are always siphoning off the mega profits when we all know they could easily give all their staff members an extra £100 an hour with zero downside to the business.

This is *always* the left's approach. "Well if a business can't afford to pay staff more then just close it down". Economics masterclass from Scott.
Rob, you’re confusing a struggling business with an argument against fair wages. Nobody is denying that small shops face rising costs. Rent, energy, suppliers and business rates all matter. But you’ve just said his supplier costs have risen by £14,500. That’s rather more significant than the £1,434 annual increase in employer costs for one minimum wage worker we discussed. If a business can only survive by keeping its lowest-paid employees on poverty wages, the problem is rather bigger than the minimum wage. And if he’s closing despite having four employees, perhaps we should examine the wider economics of running a village shop rather than automatically blaming the people earning the least.

Utterly heartbreaking. A must watch.

Gully, as ever, with his forensic analysis, shows that many of the moves made in yesterday's budget would not have been possible without Brexit. Where does #FBPE sit with that, I wonder? (cue much discomfort)

They do look after us well, but on the other hand a set of 4 desks here (a box) runs to £20,000 a week.
£7 in the Captain’s Room at my beloved Lloyd’s of London. I won’t be back in the building for over a week which is highly unusual for me; but I’ll be back for the event of the year. The army, airforce, navy march into “The Room” and poppies rain down in memory of the armistice.
