Rebuttal: the Commanders' offense seems better suited to taking advantage of BTJ's deep-ball potential than Coen's system geared more toward possession receivers who excel at route running. It's worth a mid-round pick (or Payne) to find out if he's still the guy we saw in '24
Brian Thomas Jr. to the #Commanders? ESPN's @john_keim isn't sold. With Terry McLaurin out, Keim says Washington already has its WR2s and WR3s and needs a true WR1: "I would be shocked if you can go out and get that now." He also pointed out BTJ has struggled in Liam Coen's offense, and that the LSU connection with Jayden only gets you so far in the NFL. To him, BTJ would be a depth add, not the answer. My two cents: I'm with John that replacing Terry isn't about reuniting college teammates, it's about adding a guy who can win on the outside right now. That said, I still think there's a case for going after BTJ. A talented young receiver your QB already trusts, on a rookie deal, is very valuable in today's NFL. Would you make a move for BTJ, or ride it out with what's on the roster? 🔗 Link to full video in the replies 👇 🎥: @john_keim on the John Keim Report (@ampiremedia) | #RaiseHail

"If you asked me to pick the heir to Fred Warner today – I'd say Sonny Styles." "This guy might be the best linebacker once Fred Warner retires." Much more on the Commanders rookie with @Foxworth24 @CKravitz17 and @Nate_Tice:

This a was really well done piece (both written and the audio piece included within) from @RobWoodfork on @PTI’s 25th anniversary and the show’s DC roots. Really well done!
The WaPo sports department that brought Kornheiser and Wilbon together is gone. But PTI is still going strong after 25 years. I went behind the scenes of ESPN's enduring institution and found its story is more distinctly D.C. than I imagined. @WTOP wtop.com/sports/2026/10/espn…

Great work, @RobWoodfork. All of us in the Washington Post sports department watched it happen in our newsroom well before it actually happened on air. We had an amazing front-row seat for the Mike and Tony show. 😉 Love the audio portion embedded in this piece.

The Wizards have a winning record for the first time in 1,423 days 🤯 Washington’s season-opening win puts the team above .500 for the first time since Nov. 28, 2022.

Who doesn't know by now that this DOES NOT work?! Might as well call him Brian Spurrier
SHOULD THE WASHINGTON #COMMANDERS HIRE BRIAN KELLY AS THEIR NEXT HEAD COACH…? Kelly has a very close relationship with star QB Jayden Daniels dating back to their time together at LSU. Their reunion could completely reinvigorate the franchise and help return to contention. 👀

Interesting that he started last week. Commanders came out noticeably less aggressive early on vs San Fran, playing more mixed zone coverages with 4 man rushes. Didn't work so they went back to blitzing
The #Commanders have hired Steve Wilks to work with the defensive coaches under Dan Quinn and Daronte Jones, per me and @RapSheet. The decision to hire Wilks was made last month. He started last week. Wilks will help with game planning. He won't be with the team on game days.

The Commanders have hired Steve Wilks as a part-time assistant to help Dan Quinn and Daronte Jones with defensive game-planning, per source. He doesn't do game days; comes in on Sundays and leaves after practice on Wednesdays.

Did a bit of a deep dive on Jayden Daniels stats after his impressive second half in San Fran. Jayden Daniels has played in 31 games (including 3 playoff games) in his career. That doesn’t even come out to 2 full seasons. Jayden Daniels career stats (including playoffs): 6,411 passing yards 43 touchdowns, 13 interceptions 66.3 completion percentage 266 carries, 1,517 rushing yards 11 rushing touchdowns Jayden Daniels stats since beginning of 2025 season (11 games, some of which he was playing injured and did not finish): 2,021 passing yards 11 touchdowns, 3 interceptions 62.2 completion percentage 83 carries, 491 rushing yards 4 rushing touchdowns Stats don’t lie. Jayden Daniels is an elite NFL QB talent. You can point to on field errors the last couple of weeks and injury concerns, but at the end of the day Jayden Daniels represents the Commanders best path to a Super Bowl and the team should figure out whatever the best way to put him in the position to succeed is, because if he succeeds the franchise will.

The 2026 #Commanders are the first NFL team to have a +6 turnover margin and a -40 scoring margin through the first six games of a season since… the 1980 Redskins. Washington fired head coach Jack Pardee after the 1980 season and hired future Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs
The Washington Commanders are tied for No. 1 in the NFL in turnover differential at +6 and yet are 1-4-1 with a point differential of -40. It takes a special kind of team to have a turnover differential that good and a record and a point differential that bad.

4-2 team with Mike Tomlin Can't convince me otherwise
Unpopular take: I think the Commanders roster is good enough to win almost every week. Way better than the record and it gets credit for. WR /LB rooms are examples. Coaching doesn’t elevate them. They play hard for DQ because they like him but they rarely win coaching battle.
