🚫 Discrimination has no place in surgery.
ASiT is appalled by The Times “Skeleton Staff” article and the outdated, sexist, and transphobic stereotypes it perpetuates. Such narratives undermine the #inclusivity and progress our profession has fought hard to achieve.
We stand with @BritOrthopaedic, @bota_uk and the @WomenSurgeonsUK in challenging these harmful depictions. Surgery is a career for all, everyone deserves a workplace built on respect and #equality.

🚨 Surgical Training at Risk – ASiT & RCSEng Demand Urgent Action 🚨
Surgical trainees are being pushed to the sidelines, struggling to get the hands-on experience they need to become the consultants of tomorrow.
Years after the pandemic, theatre access is still limited, and system pressures continue to put training second to service delivery.
If we don’t act now, we risk losing a generation of surgeons – and with them, the future of patient care. Training isn’t an afterthought; it’s the foundation of a safe and sustainable surgical workforce.
Ahead of the ASiT Conference 2025, we have joined forces with the Royal College of Surgeons of England to demand urgent action from NHS leaders. The time to invest in trainees is now.

With @ASiTofficial, we've issued a stark warning to @DHSCgovuk & @NHSEngland that access to operating theatres for surgical training hasn’t recovered since the pandemic & if not carefully implemented, planned government reforms risk adding more barriers: rcseng.ac.uk/news-and-events…
