HOT TAKE: If you're having a bad viewer experience due to ads on Twitch, it's because the streamer hasn't bothered to put in the effort to make the experience as seamless as possible for their non-subbed viewers. Viewers don't dislike ads. They dislike being blindsided. SOLUTION: If you stream & have two monitors, open stream manager on your 2nd monitor. Crop out and create a display capture in OBS of the ad timer and place it at the bottom corner of your stream. Now, you will run a 3-minute ad every hour, and the timer will count down from 63:00. Once 60:00 appears, for the next hour, NOBODY currently watching you or joining in will see an ad. This allows your audience see when another ad break is coming and nobody is blindsided or afraid of missing something. This does requires you to not have a fickle audience and to actually trust your chat because when the timer hits 0:00, chat need to inform you (I recommend making a command) so you can pause the content and run another 3-minute ad. During the break, you can use the restroom, have a snack, stretch your legs, read donations, etc., and your chatters can do the same before content resumes. SOURCE: Me. I've been using this method since 2022 and I've NEVER had a complaint about ads or running them. In fact, I constantly get praised for how considerate, organized, and seamless it is. And based on my CCV, I also make about $200-$300 per month from ads. Please do this, your chat deserves it.
