I’ve got a LOT of respect for this!! 🙌 After being named Man of the Match for Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo took teammate Abdullah Al Hamdan over to collect the trophy and handed it to him instead. A special moment, and for me, a brilliant example of leadership. I've played alongside some fantastic captains over the years, and one thing I've always respected is a player who makes those around them feel valued. Ronaldo has won more individual awards than most players could ever dream of, but he knows what a moment like that could mean to a teammate. And that's something that applies well beyond football. Good leaders don't need to be the centre of attention all the time. They actively look for opportunities to give others the recognition they deserve. Love to see it 👏 (🎥 spl_en)

I absolutely love seeing little gestures like this ❤️ Manchester United’s Matthijs de Ligt spotted a young mascot shivering in the pouring rain ahead of their Champions League match against Como, so he took off his own jacket and gave it to her to keep warm 🥹 And what makes this even nicer is that it was his first start in 325 days after back surgery. A pretty big occasion for him personally!! Having walked out alongside mascots countless times, I know how focused players are before kick-off. You're thinking about the game ahead, while the child standing next to you is probably having one of the most exciting days of their life. I think it's easy to forget that what feels like a normal matchday routine for a player can be an extraordinary experience for a young fan. Just look at her face!! I reckon she'll remember that for years. Very classy 👏 (📷 ESPNnl)

I’d happily see more clubs do this 👏📵 Borussia Dortmund are introducing “Fan Mode” in their app, giving supporters points for every minute their phones stay locked during matches, with signed shirts and club shop vouchers up for grabs. Rewarding people for actually watching the game they’ve paid to see is quite funny when you think about it 😂 But I love the idea. There’s nothing quite like being in a stadium when a goal goes in, celebrating with strangers like you’ve known them for years... You feel that energy on the pitch too. When the crowd gets behind you, it can give you another burst when your legs are going. The atmosphere is something everyone there helps create. Every person joining in adds to it!!! And being so caught up in a match that you forget to check your phone? That’s a pretty good afternoon these days 😅 (📷 sporf)

Always love seeing a comeback like this ❤️ Dejan Kulusevski is playing Premier League football again after 526 days out with a knee injury, returning for Tottenham against Coventry. His road back: May 2025: Injures his right kneecap, undergoes surgery and misses the Europa League final. January 2026: Still in pain despite treatment (I know the feeling well!! 😞) March 2026: A further knee procedure to remove debris from the knee, later missing the World Cup. October 2026: Finally back after missing the entire 25/26 season. He’s described football as being like breathing to him, so imagine having it taken away for almost 2 years... Having had two ACL injuries back to back, I know how lost you can feel without the thing your whole life revolves around 💔 Long-term injury can feel like mental torture. You do everything asked of you, but there’s no guarantee your body will be ready. Meanwhile, your teammates carry on and you start wondering where you fit in. That’s why getting back on the pitch matters so much, before anyone even talks about how well you’ve played. So good to see him doing what he loves again 👏 (📷 premier league)

I was not ready for this one 😢 Pete is a lifelong Arsenal supporter who is sadly nearing the end of his life with pancreatic cancer. His niece asked the internet to help fulfil a dying wish, and two Arsenal shirts arrived a few days later. One was personally signed by his favourite player, Declan Rice. I don’t think you ever quite get your head around what you can mean to someone when you’re playing... Someone you’ve never met, who’s watched you every weekend and is still cheering you on while going through something like this. After all those years supporting Arsenal, I’m so glad Pete got to feel a bit of that love coming back his way. Well done, Declan, and everyone who helped make it happen 👏 👏 Thinking of you, Pete, and everyone who loves you ❤️ (🎥 thomasfamilyadventures_)

Retired from football and discovered lunch was now my problem 😂 New video’s up! I’m in the kitchen sharing the five foods I kept in my recovery routine after the club chefs stopped feeding me. Almost left one out for being too boring… turns out that’s why it works 👀 youtube.com/watch?v=SqPtuPUA…

Every time I read about this man, I respect him a little more 🤝 Sadio Mané is investing $20m MORE of his own money into a mango farming and processing project in his hometown of Bambali, Senegal. Having already funded a school and a hospital there, his latest project is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs when it opens!! Honestly, he could have stopped at the school and hospital and people would still be thanking him for decades. But he clearly has bigger plans for the place he grew up 👏👏 I know how much goes into getting a business off the ground, so taking on something this size, with his own money… fair play to him. It’s going to mean SO much to that village. An absolute superhuman. I salute you, Sadio 🫡 (📷 pubity)

I recognise the relief in that smile!! 🙌 Last night against Coventry, James Maddison made his first start for Spurs in 536 days, scored his first Premier League goal in 610 days and picked up Man of the Match. What a night 👏 A partial ACL tear, then a full rupture in the same knee during his comeback. He’s spoken openly about the dark days of recovery, and I’m glad he has. After two ACL injuries by 17, I know how quickly your whole future can feel like it’s falling apart. You miss the football, of course, but you also start wondering who you are without it… That’s the part a return date never really captures - being cleared to play doesn’t instantly give you back your confidence or stop you worrying about the next setback. Then you have a night like this, where your body lets you do the thing you love again. I hope he’s watched that goal back a few times this morning. It's well earned 🤍 (📷 spursofficial)

I’ve got a lot of time for this 👏 I came across this footage of Barcelona captain Raphinha helping to collect the balls in after training. It’s a small thing, but for me that’s where you see someone’s attitude towards being part of a team. Even when they’re the one leading it. You’d be surprised how many ‘captains’ would struggle with this. There’s plenty of ego in football, and being given the armband doesn’t automatically mean you’re good at putting other people first 👀 The same applies at work. It’s much harder to ask everyone to pull together when you’ve quietly made yourself the exception. And people take their cues from you. If a young player sees the captain mucking in, that becomes part of what they understand being in that team means. Leadership on and off the pitch 🫡 (🎥 fcbarcelona)

His grandma has absolutely stolen the show here 👀 After Betis–Barça, Fermín López went over to greet his grandmother, who’d travelled from Huelva to watch him play. She asked him to give his shirt to a young girl who’d made the same journey. The girl was in tears meeting her idol… and grandma immediately tried to cover her shirtless grandson with a bag to keep him out of the rain 😂 Happy to give away your shirt, absolutely not having you get wet!! What I love is how normal it all is. Football can change so much about your life, but your family still fuss over you and remind you of your manners, regardless of whose name is on your back. Having people around you who’ll always see you that way is so special. I doubt she’s ever been particularly interested in his transfer value. Whether he’s warm enough, though… ❤️ (🎥 DAZNFutbol)

Now THIS is something I'd love to see happen 👏 Bolton Wanderers are exploring a partnership with Bolton NHS Foundation Trust to help people living with chronic pain, reduced mobility and those recovering after treatment. Having been through my fair share of injuries, I know how much your world can shrink when you struggle to move freely. It's actually one of the reasons we recently commissioned our whitepaper at The Turmeric Co., which explored the state of pain in the UK. It found that 60% of people who'd experienced pain said it had affected their exercise or daily movement. That's a lot of people missing out on things many of us take for granted!!! Football clubs already have an incredible connection with their communities, and I think there's SO much potential to use that trust to make health and recovery support more accessible. If Bolton can help more people regain their confidence and independence... that's a result worth celebrating. More of this please!! 🙏⚽️ (📷 efl)

Simple, but I love it 👏 A Real Betis fan and a Porto fan swapping scarves before kick-off 🧣 They’ll spend the next 90 minutes wanting completely different outcomes, but they both know what it means to love a football club. I think it’s easy to forget that when you’re so caught up in your own team. A little mutual respect. That’s what it’s all about 🤝 (🎥 goncalotruta/tntsportsfootball)

I’m absolutely over the moon to see this ❤️ I remember posting about Archie Goodburn a few months ago and being so moved by his bravery. Living with three inoperable brain tumours, he went on BBC Breakfast to plead for better care for everyone facing what he’s going through. Now, following his meeting with the Prime Minister, the government has announced plans for a national brain cancer clinical lead, a review of progress and action to get treatments to patients sooner!!!!! I honestly think that UK healthcare needs a complete overhaul... cancer survival falling behind comparable countries is just one example of why we can’t keep accepting things as they are. So pleased Archie’s helped push for change, but these promises need to turn into better care, quickly. Wonderful news and much needed. Well done, Archie 👏 (🎥 bbcnews)

Now this is a name I’m pleased to see!! 👏 Arsène Wenger’s name is being floated as a potential challenger to Gianni Infantino for the FIFA presidency. Nothing's been publicly confirmed... but my fingers are crossed 🤞 This week’s reports about Infantino hardly fill you with confidence. An extra £1.3m from the World Cup organising company on top of his reported 2024 salary, without it appearing in FIFA’s annual report 🤯 The governing body says it ‘meets’ all reporting requirements, but there are serious questions to answer. Add that to his failed plan to sell stakes in FIFA tournaments and honestly, I find the whole thing pretty depressing 👎 There’s probably a bit of bias from my Arsenal days in there 😅 But Wenger’s commitment to developing players is something I’ve always admired, and I’d love to see that same long-term thinking shape how the game is run. His name alone wouldn’t fix FIFA. Whoever takes charge needs to be open about their decisions and willing to be challenged… that shouldn’t be too much to ask!! I’d quite like FIFA to have a boring year. Just the football providing the drama 😅 (📷 now.afc)

15 years in professional football… you'd think a few things would have sunk in 😂 My favourite video yet. A proper deep dive into what football taught me, what it absolutely didn’t, and the bits I’m STILL getting wrong. Enjoy this one 👇 youtube.com/watch?v=X7YxBIst…

What a life to give to the club you love ❤️ Ken Friar, Arsenal’s life president and former managing director, has sadly passed away at 92. Known as ‘Mr Arsenal’, he gave 75 years of service and helped oversee the move from Highbury to the Emirates 👏 And it all apparently started with a stray football… Back in 1945, an 11-year-old Ken was playing outside Highbury when his ball rolled under Arsenal manager George Allison’s car. Allison asked him to come back the next day and offered him a job running messages to the box office… and the rest is history!!! Having started my footballing career as a youngster at Arsenal, I know there’s a magic to the place. You walk in with your own dreams about what you might achieve on the pitch and find yourself surrounded by decades of other people’s. Ken helped create that feeling for generations of us 🤝 Reading the tributes to Ken, his kindness and the time he made for people stand out as much as his achievements. A wonderful man. Will be missed by a lot of people. RIP 🕊️ (📷 arsenal)

Whoever came up with this, I’m a big fan ❤️ Spanish football club Elche partnered with a local animal welfare organisation to promote responsible adoption, with dogs joining their starting eleven as they walked onto the pitch 👏 The club also asked fans to donate food and animal care supplies, with information available at the ground about adopting and helping out. You’re usually so wrapped up in the game when you walk onto that grass, but I think even I’d have struggled to keep my match face on with this lot around 😂 I love that fans had a way to help, even if taking a dog home wasn’t an option... clubs have so much attention on match day, and this is a very special use of it!! A few minutes in the spotlight could lead to a lifetime in a loving home. Brilliant stuff 🐾 (🎥 elchecf)

Quite the addition to the rehab schedule 👀 Xavi Simons has enrolled on Harvard Business School’s Crossover into Business programme while recovering from an ACL injury. At 23, he’s already exploring what life beyond football could look like!! 👏 Lots of footballers don’t really think about their post-playing plans until they retire. It's easy to do - you’re so focused on the next match that life afterwards feels miles away… until it isn’t. Then you’re working out what comes next whilst losing the routine and dressing room you’ve known for years. That’s a lot to get your head around all at once. I was building my business whilst still playing - finishing training and jumping straight on calls about bottling equipment 😂 A lot to juggle, but having something I was excited about beyond football made SUCH a difference. You don’t need your next chapter all figured out to start learning something that might help you get there. Keep that curiosity alive 🧠💫 (📷 ohmygoal)

So much respect for him for sharing this 👏 Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fée lost his father to suicide in 2021. For World Mental Health Day, he was asked what advice he would give his younger self. I can only imagine how difficult it is to revisit something so personal, knowing thousands of people will hear it… When you’re playing, so much of the conversation is about how you performed on Saturday or whether you deserve to start next week. It’s easy to forget that whatever someone is carrying doesn’t disappear when they pull their shirt on. We want players to be strong, but I’d love for being this open to feel like something they have room to do too. Someone watching this might feel a little less alone because Enzo chose to share it. That matters far beyond football ❤️ (🎥 Premier League)

This has taken me right back (and not in a nostalgic way) 🙃 Last month, Granit Xhaka publicly admitted obtaining a forged Covid vaccination certificate in 2022, while playing for Arsenal. The case emerged through a wider investigation into a doctor suspected of issuing false certificates. This week, it was announced that Xhaka had received a £136,265 (CHF 150,000) fine, suspended for two years provided he commits no further offences. Four years later... we’re clearly still working through all of this 🤣 Obtaining the false certificate was wrong. But he shouldn’t have to apologise for having concerns about a medical decision... I was still playing during the pandemic. Looking back, I find it uncomfortable how closely health certification became tied to everyday life!! It's crazy 🤯 We can question that pressure without excusing the deception. You don’t have to defend every decision someone made to understand what worried them. There should ALWAYS be room to ask questions about your own health 🤷‍♂️ (📷 tntsportsfootball)
