Last week, 8 RHFD firefighters completed a demanding three-day Swift Water Rescue course on the Catawba River. This specialized training will help these crews to be ready to respond to water emergencies.
As we remember and honor those who have died that served in our US Armed Forces this weekend, please do so safely!
Final update: 12:55 PM, Tar truck has been moved from the roadway into a parking lot for further clean up. All lanes of Cherry Road are reopened to normal traffic patterns.
UPDATE: 10:50 AM, Both SB lanes on Cherry Rd are now closed. The NB lanes will now serve as two-way until further notice. Expect heavy traffic in the area and plan to find an alternate route.
Drivers should expect delays and avoid southbound Cherry Road for the next few hours. Crews are on scene standing by for cleanup of tar that was leaking from a truck across from Cherry Park.
Over the past 3 shifts fire crews have been completing annual tours of the Rock Hill water intake, water filter, and wastewater treatment facilities. These allow our crews to understand the working processes and pre plan for emergency response, if ever needed.
We are hiring. Three different options based on experience. Direct hire, straight to shift. Accelerated recruit class, length of class based on training. Full recruit class, no experience necessary.
Congratulations to our 2023 Firefighter of the Year Wesley Leach, and Officer of the Year, Capt. Mike Atkins!

Wondering where all the smoke is coming from? The SC Forestry Commission currently has a controlled burn of 1,168 acres near the Chester County and Union County lines. Southwest York County will see heavy smoke in our area until this burn is complete. #YoCoN
