Batoul Alloush is a 21-year-old Syrian student who disappeared from her university.
Her parents say the security cameras showed her entering but not leaving.
Eight days later, they were finally allowed to see her inside a General Security building.
Her father says she was dragged into the room by two men, barely able to walk, completely veiled, and that security personnel prevented her own parents from embracing her. He says a local security chief, Sheikh Salah al-Din, intervened directly in the meeting.
Then it gets worse.
Months later, Batoul called home.
She appeared to have gaps in her memory and did not remember events that had supposedly proved she was acting voluntarily.
During the conversation, she told her parents that men had made her remove her clothes and photographed her.
The call was cut.
When messages resumed afterward, whoever was writing called her mother “mama”, a word her father says Batoul had never used for her mother in her life.
Her parents say they were subsequently forced to flee Syria after Jolani's security forces began searching for them.
They later received information that their daughter was being registered for marriage to one of the men connected to the Jolani regime's local security chief.
Jolani's authorities have claimed that Batoul left voluntarily and converted of her own free will. Her family rejects that account and says she is being held under coercion.

Then ask yourself how a young woman can disappear from a university, reappear surrounded by Takfiri security officials, be kept away from her family, and somehow the burden is placed on her parents to prove that something is terribly wrong.

These images show today event honoring 300 women and girls who memorized the Quran at the Hatla town stadium, northeast of Deir ez-Zor.
The issue is not memorizing the Quran, which is a legitimate religious and educational right but rather exploiting these activities to spread the extremist ideologies of ISIS and Al-Qaeda among women and children, turning religious occasions into tools for jihadist ideological mobilization.
There must be a clear distinction between genuine religious education and the promotion of extremist terrorist ideology.

Ms. Jihan Hessam is the city manager (mayor) for Qamişlo. Her city in northeastern Syria has appx. 1 million pop. and is a hub for commerce and culture. She is the first-ever female city manager in the new Syrian government. We discussed her plans to improve the health, safety, social cohesion and pride among the city’s multicultural, multireligious denizens.

The big projects include opening an international airport (previously occupied by Russian military), opening a border crossing with Turkiye, and renovations to schools and a dialysis clinic. An amusement park in the city-center also needs funding.
