Hi @bt_uk, we've had no broadband for 2 days, 2 adults trying to WFH. No update except 'estimated fix date' in 5 days' time & problem is described incorrectly on faults site even though I have explained it several times (no connection, no dial tone). Pls sort this ASAP!

As I write a lot about bad jobs/employers, I've been thinking about what it is that makes a job good. Did you ever have a job you really loved? If so, what did you love about it? (It's for a piece!)

And finally, when there is a union at work, @Rose_E_Cook et al. find 🇬🇧 fathers are more likely to see a flexible working arrangement available to them. This increases the chance of more equitable worktime arrangements & less negative ♀️ income effects: doi.org/10.1177/095001702094…

The next #FemQuantSeminar on 15 April at 4pm UK time is given by @Lolabear88. Can't wait to hear about her experiences in doing #breastfeeding research as a not-yet-mother. I think this'll be another brilliant methodological take in the series (cf. @JoeStrongDemog's Feb seminar)

Replying to @GIWLkings
@GIWLkings used @usociety #COVID19 data & found that women are losing out under the furlough scheme. Women were more likely to be furloughed for longer & had worse perceived job & financial security compared with furloughed men. Read the report: kcl.ac.uk/news/women-losing-…

New findings from our @ESRC funded research out today. ⤵️ Yet more evidence that not enough is being done to address the impact of the pandemic on women or to assess the equality impacts of gov policy.
NEW: Women are losing out under the UK govt's furlough scheme, our new analysis suggests. Last year, furloughed women: ⭕ were more likely to be furloughed for longer ⭕ had worse perceived job and financial security ...compared with furloughed men kcl.ac.uk/news/women-losing-…

Today we published new research on the gendered impacts of having kids on paid work in the UK. We first show mothers’ paid work falls along all three margins (employment, hours, wages) while fathers’ work, on average, appears unaffected by parenthood.

*WOW* and also not at all wow
NEW: we’ve all seen the pandemic’s impact on death rates, but what of the other end of the spectrum: birth rates? It takes longer for births to show up in the data (duh), but 9 months on from last March, the results are in, and they’re quite something... ft.com/content/bc825399-345c…
Covid has exacerbated existing gender inequalities but it may also be an opportunity to reassess how we share domestic + caring labour and paid + unpaid work, say Prof Damian Grimshaw and @Rose_E_Cook of @GIWLkings #WomensHistoryMonth #ChooseToChallenge buff.ly/30p4YMz
