Here's a good example of why I require all Colecovision repairs/restorations to have the power supply sent in as well. The picture you see here is of a bad OEM power supply. All the voltages test perfectly fine without a load. However, the minute you test it under load then +5 rail drops to 1 volt.
You have to test these power supplies under load guys.
Back to knocking out some No-Cut PICO9918 HDMI installs for the Colecovision today.
No additional equipment needed for the PICO9918 HDMI. Just plug and play!
(Also replaces the pesky vram and vdp too! 📷 )
For all of you that keep asking me to fix your ColecoAdams, well here you go right here!

Another No-Cut PICO9918 HDMI install is heading back home to Canada!
This one got our PICO9918 HDMI No-Cut Full-Service package.
Canadian customers, I know the new 50% tariffs for products entering Canada from the United States are a little confusing so please read the following writeup I've provided below:
Canadian Customers: Important Information About Tariff Code 9992.00.00
If you send your personally owned video game console from Canada to Ruggers Customs (United States) for repair or upgrades, it may qualify for Canadian tariff treatment under *9992.00.00* when it is returned.
This tariff provision applies to qualifying goods returning to Canada after repair or alteration in the United States. It identifies the console as a customer-owned item being returned—not a newly purchased product or gift.
To qualify, Canadian customs may require:
• Proof that the console was originally shipped from Canada
• An invoice describing the repairs or upgrades performed
• The value of the repair work and installed parts
• Matching descriptions or serial numbers when available
Qualifying goods may return to Canada free of customs duty. However, applicable GST/HST and carrier brokerage charges may still be assessed on the value of the repairs, upgrades and installed parts.
When shipping your console to us, please save your original shipping receipt, tracking information and customs paperwork. These documents may be needed to establish that the same console is returning to Canada after service.
Final eligibility and assessment are determined by the Canada Border Services Agency.

Some of you still have orders here getting the new PICO9918 HDMI or F18a MK1 HDMI installs. I also plan to release my third and final No-Cut HDMI design for the Colecovision later this week/weekend. I’m just fine tuning the graphic work on this module and possibly adding an option for VGA out for those that want VGA out instead of HDMI.
If you are one of these customers, I highly encourage and recommend for you to wait and see this final design in case you change your mind and want that module instead. This is a sleeker and more modern design that I think many will like. If you like the third and final release then it will take me no time to swap out the module that’s on there now for this new one.
Projected release of the third and final No-Cut module is scheduled for the end of this week/weekend. Please email me with any questions you may have ONLY if you have an order here already.
Thank you!
-Jimmy-
Here’s a quick and important post for PICO9918 users.
One of the huge advantages of owning the PICO9918 is the ongoing support and frequent updates this product receives. Troy Schrapel (aka Visrealm) is constantly improving his firmware for functionality and to address any bugs or other issues that might arise. What’s even better is this is something that can be done yourself if you don’t want to send the console back to me. While you can absolutely send your console back to me to take care of all of that for you, it’s really simple to do it yourself and there’s a couple of ways to do it.
1. PICO9918 software updater tool (rom) – This is a firmware updater tool developed by Troy which allows you to update the firmware via a flash cart. Simply plug in your Atarimax multi cart, follow the instructions and update. It’s as simple as that! The only catch is you have to use an Atarimax. You cannot use a PiColeco flash cart to do this. The PiColeco’s hardware CANNOT handle such large sized roms like the updater. Hopefully other flash carts like the Atarimax can become available to give more options but for right now, the Atarimax is the only flash cart capable of using the Updater Tool.
2. Physically updating the PICO9918 board with your PC or laptop. This method is simple and requires a USB-C cable and the firmware file. Simply plug the USB-C cable into your PC, then plug in your PICO9918 while holding the black boot button on the PICO9918’s board at the same time. Then just drag and drop the firmware file to your PICO9918 which will automatically disconnect and you’re done! The only catch to this is you have to open your console and physically remove the PICO9918 board from your Colecovision. This might seem like a daunting task but the hardest part of this is getting your console open. The PICO9918 is in a socket so it’s fairly easy to pop out to update.
I’ll do a write up on my website for this process when time allows. Thanks everyone for your continued support for Ruggers Customs!
Ruggers Customs Stealth PICO9918 & F18a MK-1 HDMI mounting kit for the Colecovision done! Will be available for in house installs on 8/31!
