I spent a good bit of time trying to work out all the interconnects and bandwidth on this one. Kudos to Patrick for finding the PCIe link between the NIC and GPU. That was a very neat find for a desktop workstation, and makes it even more like its server counterpart
For those who prefer to read, we just did an almost 10K-word deep dive into the Gigabyte NVIDIA DGX Station and tested performance across components. If you have not seen it, the NVIDIA Grace CPU and Blackwell Ultra have very different network connectivity servethehome.com/gigabyte-w7…

5GHz is not a barrier. It is a threshold. A barrier repels you.
(I know that's QC's phrasing, not yours, Jim. But it's still a poor choice of words on their part)
Replying to @Qualcomm
@Qualcomm breaks the CPU 5GHz barrier with the Oryon cores in the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 SoCs. #SnapdragonSummit
NVIDIA's upcoming Jetson Orin Nano 2 board is rather interesting. 4 years after Orin launched NVIDIA is minting a new SoC for it, with some major changes to the tensor cores to improve real-world throughput: nearly 2x perf on only 16% more on-paper TOPS

Well this is a nasty surprise this morning. This change to Google search results makes it impossible for users to see the full URL of a result they want to click on - to look before they leap. It makes things both more dangerous and less informative for users.
Google has confirmed the rollout of the goto URL parameters and told me "We have a long history of deploying technical measures against evolving forms of abuse, and we regularly take steps to protect our services and users." Story updated at seroundtable.com/google-sear…

It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to do a GPU deep dive. So it is nice to get back to it.
AMD provides plenty to talk about with CDNA 5. The shift to Wave32 has been a long time coming, and the memory subsystem is wild. It's going to be an interesting chip.

Next on my to do list after Vera? Off to San Francisco for AMD's Advancing AI event. Somehow I've avoided business travel all year, so I should probably pop my head up and say hi to a few people. Plus ask AMD's engineers lots and lots of questions.😂
NVIDIA has released a fresh set of technical details for their Vera CPU, including a full whitepaper on the chip and its architecture. Join @ServeTheHome for our full deep dive coverage of the chip as well as the first SPEC CPU 2026 performance figures.

This was a fun writeup. IBM is outlining their design for a post 1nm/GAAFET transistor design they call nanostack. How do you make transistors smaller? Build them up! Manufacturing will be interesting, but it's a culmination of a lot of cool technologies.

On the one hand, I am envious that Patrick was able to work on a 8-way Blackwell Ultra server. On the other hand, I am very glad that I didn't have to lift or listen to said Blackwell Ultra server!
We take a look at the ASUS XA NB3I-E12, an air-cooled NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra server in a massive 9U chassis servethehome.com/asus-xa-nb3…
