Even the cover of the book looks frightening. Clearly Valerie Sinason has a very mixed up relationship with what is real and true and frankly, I wouldn't want any impressionable person going near her, or her colleagues. When Richard Mc Nally spoke of some aspects of modern approaches "having done more harm than the lobotomy", he knew what he was talking about. My heart aches for poor Carol and for the miseries her family was put through.
