What a fantastic launch event yesterday for Research in Action on Church Heritage (REACH), our collaborative project with @socantscot supported by @HeritageFundSCO & @ThePilgrimTrust
Chaired by @lizzieswarbrick, we heard from 20 wonderful speakers followed by a panel discussion
It was an excellent foundation on which we hope to build a new alliance of individuals & organisations whose knowledge & expertise in this arena will help us to publicly document, conserve & protect this incredibly endangered category of heritage during this era of mass closures.
Thanks to Lizzie, Emily & colleagues at @socantscot, who organised much of the day, the lovely team at Augustine United Church, all of the fab contributors, who gave their time so generously, and to everyone who came along or watched online.
Watch this space for future events!

A beautiful font and setting at Metropolitan Cathedral of St Andrew in Glasgow. Designed by Scottish sculptor Tim Pomeroy in 2011 and made of Carrara marble. The interior of the church is crisp and the font suits well here.

We're sharing two beautiful doorways from our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh, for this week's #AdoorableThursday post. Aren't they stunning? 😍

For this week's #WindowsonWednesday post, here's the remarkable stained glass windows designed by Edinburgh artist Sir Eduardo Paolozzi in the Resurrection Chapel of our #ScottishChurchoftheWeek, St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh. (1/3)
The "Millennium Windows" were fabricated and installed by Phoenix Glass and dedicated in Oct 2002 to the memory of Mary Carmichael, a beloved member of the congregation.
When the sun shines through the windows they send a shimmering kaleidoscope of light through the building! 😍

For this year’s @Glasgowdodf I thought I’d go slightly mad and do a talk ‘Glasgow 850 - The evolution of a city’ in which I compress 850 years of Glasgow’s urban history into an hour. Can I do it…🤔?
If you fancy finding out then why not join me at the ARC in the @UofGlasgow campus on Friday 19 September 2025 (19:30 - 20:30) for my free whistle stop tour through time.
Details via the link below 👀👇😉!

ALT Built between 1884-90 this is Glasgow City Chambers in the city’s George Square. The heavily ornamented facade of the building can be seen against a blue sky with the Monument to Thomas Graham, a key Glasgow chemist who discovered dialysis and the diffusion of gases. There is a figure in a red jacket looking up at the building as they walk past.

Dunblane Cathedral. Most of Scotland's medieval cathedrals were abandoned after the Reformation, no longer needed as there were no longer bishops. A few survived to become the High Kirks of their cities, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen are well known, but Dunblane was another.
