CONCLUSION 🧵(1/2): Putin would have the world, and especially the United States, believe that he is somehow holding back from crushing Ukraine, but that he could do so at any moment of his choosing. The opposite is the case.
If Putin had had a way of ending the war quickly, he surely would have used it. The effort to field an army large enough to make virtually no gains is costing Putin a fortune, driving up inflation in Russia, and generating increasing social discontent. Fielding a larger army would cost more with no guarantee of materially changing the situation on the front. That is why Putin is holding back at least for now. ⬇️
Putin has likely recognized the folly of trying to drown Ukraine in Russian blood and has instead opted to try to hammer Ukraine into submission with a strategic bombing campaign. The Russians have secured a temporary advantage in the skies over Ukraine through their jet-powered drones and the shortage of Patriot missiles that can intercept their ballistic missiles. But Ukraine is fielding solutions to defend against the jet-powered drones, and it is hardening and decentralizing its infrastructure to survive the ballistic missile strikes (as well as developing its own ballistic missile interceptors, although that effort will take time).
The Russian strikes are currently devastating Ukrainian energy and other infrastructure and imposing a brutal cost on Ukrainian civilians—as Putin intends. But there is no reason to think that this strategic bombing campaign will be any more successful than every other strategic bombing campaign in history—all of which have failed to compel a country holding its own on the battlefield to surrender.

"If there are no personal consequences for deciding to wage war against a sovereign state, then all international rules cease to function, the global security order is destroyed, and any other country could become a victim.
Accountability for aggression is not only a signal about the past – it is a signal about the future: about how the world responds to unlawful uses of force and what consequences await those who violate international norms"

🇺🇦 Over the past week, Elon Musk has gone from denying Starshield restrictions in Ukraine to inventing explanations that are easily challenged.
Ukraine’s military uses the paid-for military version, Starshield, which it is authorised to use on Ukraine’s internationally recognised territory. Operations against Russian invaders there are defensive.
If Musk and Trump care so much about Russian soldiers, they should remember that those soldiers can always return to Russia and live happily there.
Stop spreading this BS. Unless, of course, your goal is to finally get Congress to investigate.

🎯 Russia is a failed nation, a terror state, a mafia pretending to be a country, a people infected with an imperial virus, a gas station with nukes that barely has any gas left, a Chinese vassal that needs perpetual war to stay intact. It should be quarantined, not elevated.
This has been Putin's dream for years: That his country, with GDP per capita lower than Poland, unable to conquer Donbas since 2014, will be treated as an equal to the US and China.

These are American values and principles not forgotten by all. Trump is a despicable traitor & conman. He is neither a conservative nor a patriot. True conservatives support Ukraine.🇺🇦🇺🇸
Barbarism & merciless brutality have remained the “russian way” since the days of the Hordes who practiced those tactics & forever remain in the nation’s psyche.
Stalin is but an example, not an anomaly. There was a man of strength & moral character who reined him in. Churchhill
