Last week, @SFCGuild hosted a Narcan training session for members put on by @SaferTogetherSF and organized by @NualaBishari. I learned a lot, gained the confidence to administer it if needed and have some new tools in my camera bag ❤️ Thanks Nuala for making it happen!

First work stoppage in the history of the L.A. Times.
Still a great media organization - and this fight for the future impacts all of us who value coverage of California. I know MANY @SFCGuild members will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Whelp, that didn't last long.
Second time working for a Bay Area newspaper. Second time getting hit by a mass layoff within the first three months. Oof.
So sorry for all my talented colleauges who lost their jobs yesterday, as well. Oof X 8.

I'll be leaving the Chronicle soon. Like so many others, I'm trying to figure out where to step next in this fraught moment for media. Totally unclear where our craft is headed.

This is a very sad and frustrating day for the Chronicle newsroom. These talented journalists who were laid off with very little notice deserved so much more. Management should be reflecting on their role in this loss.

This is horrible news.
Our audio team is incredibly talented and hard-working and personally just great and caring people. They did good work for our community.
Thanks to all who listened.

Horrible news. Our colleagues did great work and I'm upset and angry about how this was handled.

It's been a tough morning for @SFCGuild:
Today, Guild leadership learned that eight members of the newsroom, including six of our members, were being laid off.
To say we're frustrated is an understatement. We are absolutely devastated. I will miss my colleagues who worked on both the audio and SFNext initiatives, which helped deliver vital coverage to our community.

After over 2 years of pushing for a $55K pay floor, we were shocked when @merrillwilliams & @washingtonian management finally came back with a proposal of $40K.
Their proposal remains far below adequate income levels for the DC area & below the pay floor of other media outlets.

Congrats to @SFCGuild and all the SF Chronicle and SF Gate writers and staff for winning a new contract after 2 years of negotiations. We appreciate the essential work you do and you deserve to be fairly compensated and supported for it. 🙌🙌🙌🙌
