We're subjected to sewage pollution, hosepipe bans, water outages and bill increases.
They take that money and pay themselves bonuses and dividends.

Kent is looking like a petri dish today after @SouthernWater poured sewage into our sea and rivers following the rain.
Whitstable has seen 17 hours of sewage in the last 24 hours.
Recent figures suggest that @thameswater are £20bn in debt, with over £10bn paid in dividends since privatisation.
They also owe their own parent company an estimated £3.8bn with interest up to 10% annually on that loan.
It is a government-backed cash machine for investors.
Replying to @SOSWhitstable
Yes! I’d like to know how much money they have taken out the company, to pay bonuses and dividends. Would they still be afloat, if they hadn’t fraudulently rewarded themselves?
"Thames Water asks for £2.4bn more to avoid going bust this year or early 2027"
They are environmentally insolvent and this isn't sustainable. Our bills will increase to pay for this. Let them go bust and take them back.

What @We_OwnIt said ⤵️
The chorus of Labour MPs calling for public ownership of water continues.
Congratulations to @SOSWhitstable and Kevin McKenna for a successful action on the Thames yesterday
We've had it with greedy water companies extracting billions and dumping sewage in our rivers
Public ownership now!
Photo dump (excuse the pun) from an incredible day yesterday delivering our petition to No. 10.
This is so important. We all know it. And we won't stop pushing until it is achieved.
Huge thanks to @MrDDyer for joining us.

"Team to oversee South East Water improvement plans"
We don't want an turnaround plan to ensure a "more secure and resilient future for South East Water". We want @sewateruk and every other water company in public ownership. They have failed.

We wonder if Tower Bridge has ever opened before to allow a giant turd through before?
If we can achieve public ownership, the water beneath it will have fewer turds in it.

I thought I'd seen it all, but...
There's a rather impressive poo coming through the #ThamesBarrier this morning.

"The national mood is that water companies have failed"
@GreenJennyJones is, as ever, spot on. There is close to zero public support for privatisation continuing yet, for some reason, the government are unable to read the room.
