Loosely related: Instead of tired reboots, just remake A Muppet Christmas Carol every year with a new Scrooge. I want a Goggins Scrooge. A Margo Martindale Scrooge. We could do a celebrity non-actor controversial Elon Musk Scrooge. The sky’s the limit. What happened to America?
We know it's still October, but the brands™️ are rolling out the holiday ads. @Walmart has teamed up with @Disney and @TheMuppets Studio for “A Who Knew Carol" starring Walton Goggins as Ebenezer Scrooge. Learn more about the holiday campaign 👉 adweek.it/4igGjB4

Brilliant navigation. She clearly hates him. 😭
BASH: “You're still fully behind Abdul El-Sayed?” STEVENS: “Look, I'm on the Democratic ticket. I can't say that I agree with everything that's gone on… I'm looking to be on the team to support my next governor Jocelyn Benson, and frankly these great Democrats who are working their tails off, who are going to make Hakeem Jeffries the first black Speaker of the House.” BASH: “You didn't mention Abdul El-Sayed in that last answer.” STEVENS: “Well, look, I would just say, you had asked me if I'm still on the team, I'm on the team.”

Between this and that Vivek ad and others, we might be on an election cycle bad ad generational run.
This is one of the most comical ads this election cycle. Yes, Americans are chatting at the grocery store about how they can’t buy groceries because their tax dollars “go to Israel” 🙄 😂 nevermind the fact that Israel has invested 100% of military aid in the U.S. economy since Oct 7, and has also purchased over $1 billion *additional* in arms, according to DoD. Federal military aid is also prohibited from being spent on anything other than U.S. arms, so the line about healthcare is even more comical. El Sayed and his Islamist fans like Cenk Uygur want and expect American voters to be so stupid they never check. Not only is this ad insane, conspiratorial, and antisemitic — it is also flat out false. El Sayed isn’t for the people of Michigan, he isn’t even for America. He is for the Muslim Brotherhood.

I can’t underscore how criminally insane this is, I love it
For 28 years, 69-year-old Rick Taylor has gathered tickets from Cal Ripken Jr.’s 2,632-game streak spanning 1982–1998. Now only eight away, the retired salesman’s 16-box basement collection — each ticket labeled and shielded — ranks among baseball’s most notable. Taylor never anticipated reaching single digits, yet he feels confident about finishing. 🎥 The Associated Press

Reading is one of the best things you can do and costs like $20 for six hours, tops. In many cases it's free. The people who make it possible live in penury and the whole modern economy is organized against it.

“So like, this guy? Jaws? Have you seen this guy? He’s like, if someone bred a cornerback on the Saints with a lineman from fucking…New England. Just crazy teeth. Huge guy. Big guy. Killed him. I did, I killed him in like, Dubai. I was just like, BAM. One shot. Right in the face dude. All these Arab guys starin like, oh shit, was that Jaws? Jaws got shot by a…large infant from Alabama? You know? I was like, fuck yeah. 007. Why not. And we just looked at each other and I was all well, that’s it, and got in the car—real expensive car, it has like a cannon for some reason, you know? And I got the fuck outta there.”
Craig's reverse course on retiring + Danny Boyle dropping out + Covid + MGM acquisitions mean we have been reading about "the next James Bond" for 11 fucking years. Cast Shane Gillis for all I care just get it over with

Nathan: But you understand why the puffy shirt is funny, right? Liz: Because it's...not his style. Nathan: Yes but he couldn't hear her, so he agreed to something he didn't understand. Liz: But she asked him about wearing the shirt.
