At #AméricaAbierta, we must confront the greatest challenge of our time: restoring trust in democracy. We have seen citizens’ discontent & anger as democracies have failed to improve their lives or tackle their pain points: inflation, immigration, inequality, corruption, climate.
We have great hope in Brazil under @LulaOficial as OGP Co-Chair. Brazil is leading the Americas in the fight to fortify democracy & advance citizen participation at scale. This can enable OGP governments to listen & respond better to people’s pain points, renewing democracy.
As I close my journey with @opengovpart, I am deeply inspired by the courage & commitment of reformers & activists within the region. We need your collective strength to defend our cherished values of democracy & openness under threat.
