A Syrian refugee started in my class today. She arrived two weeks ago after two years of trying to reach the UK. My class were so full of LOVE for her - some made cards at home. This hatred and selfishness is completely learned. Just LOOK at the EMPATHY ❤😭

Absolutely horrified that I mentioned S Club 7 today and my class gave me blank faces. I will now take my role as a teacher more seriously - we have work to do!

Sparrows are studying @annaclyne as their trailblazing composer. After listening to Night Ferry, they thought carefully about the story of the piece as well as the pitch, rhythm and dynamics. They then created their own graphic scores.
What a lovely first day with my new class! We took some time out of our busy schedule to relax in the sun with a good book ☀️
This was a lovely transition activity adapted from an idea I saw online. The children wrote about something they have already achieved and something they would like to achieve. They decorated sunglasses and then stuck them onto a self-portrait.

The new 'guidance' about trans and non-binary pupils is harmful and dangerous. It's Section 28 all over again. No competitive sports for gender-questioning pupils? Staff and pupils can ignore preferred/correct pronouns if they want to?
@NEUnion I hope we are fighting this.
This will cause immeasurable hurt. We are taking away the safe space for pupils and robbing them of the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice. The mental health of our young people will suffer awfully for this.
It's completely wrong and goes against the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Where is the protection for our young people? #ToriesOut

These new recommendations regarding the treatment of young Trans and Non-Binary people in schools are going to cause so much damage to some of our most vulnerable students. Have the @Conservatives learned nothing from the disgrace of Section 28?
Lots of love to any teachers who are visibly LGBT+ for the first time this #PrideMonth. It's not easy but the impact is huge and helps our children to feel seen and represented.
Shout out to @PopnOlly who provide brilliant resources for schools.

We always end the day with a song in Ladybirds and yesterday's was amazing!
As a side note 🎵, the daily karaoke has done WONDERS for their reading fluency!

Thank you SO much to the amazing @TheCBSO for the concert this morning. We loved travelling around the world with you through the beautiful music.
Loving this @KateJones_teach spelling test method: add 5 spellings each week until it gets to 20, then add 5 and drop off the first 5, etc.
Week 1: 3/5
Week 2: 5/5, 0/5
Week 3: 5/5, 3/5, 1/5
Such clear progress already.
