Himachal Pradesh to Get Its Own Scouts Battalion? CM Sukhu Urges Centre to Raise Special Army Unit!
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged the Central Government to raise a dedicated Himachal Scouts Battalion, similar to the Ladakh Scouts, Sikkim Scouts and Arunachal Scouts.
The proposed battalion would focus on recruiting local youth from the border districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, leveraging their knowledge of high-altitude terrain, extreme weather conditions and mountainous regions to strengthen India's defence preparedness along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Highlighting Himachal Pradesh's proud military legacy, CM Sukhu noted that over 1 lakh youth from the state currently serve in the Armed Forces. The state has also produced four Param Vir Chakra awardees, including Major Somnath Sharma, Lt Col Dhan Singh Thapa, Captain Vikram Batra and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar.
If approved, the Himachal Scouts Battalion would create new opportunities for local youth while strengthening India's military presence along the Himalayan frontier.
The proposal is currently awaiting a response from the Centre.
Do you think the Indian Army should raise a dedicated Himachal Scouts Battalion?

Army Officer’s Wife Booked Over Alleged Links with Chinese Intelligence Agents
Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case against the wife of a senior Indian Army officer for allegedly collecting and sharing sensitive information with foreign intelligence operatives linked to China.
According to preliminary investigations by intelligence agencies, Chinese operatives posing as academicians contacted the woman and engaged her to write articles and write-ups on subjects of strategic and operational significance.
The interaction reportedly began with topics related to the environment and geopolitics before shifting towards defence-related issues.
Investigators have described this as an “intellectual trap,” with the accused allegedly interacting with the individuals without realising they were intelligence operatives rather than genuine academics.
