Scott Satterfield has a really cool story about his mentor Jerry Moore. Moore, who is 87, is a former Texas Tech HC and longtime Appalachian State HC. He drove from Boone, NC to watch the Bearcats take down Texas Tech, who fired him in 1985.

App state is the only team in the country to win on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, @SickosCommittee
So us and Clemson and Washington have won Friday Saturday Sunday games Clemson game vs Georgia southern ended at 1:07 AM Sunday September 13th Clemson won a Friday game Campbell played on a Sunday and won, and that was a makeup game from the day before vs western Carolina after a storm hit. The stadium lights would not come back on, so the night game got moved to a Sunday game. Notre dame won in week 1 on a Sunday but doesn't play a weekday game Ole miss won on Sunday week 1 and plays Mississippi state on a Friday at the end of the season Prairie view A&M won on a Sunday but doesn't play another weekday game And South Carolina state won on a Sunday week 1 plays 2 Thursday games no Friday games Washington played on a Sunday week 1 and won and won on a Friday but also lost on a Friday and doesn't play a weekday game again If App beats JMU, they will be the only team to win on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday baring another Sunday game. Clemson doesn't play another weekday game this season.

Dowell Loggains and his Mountaineers come out with an absolute signature win as App takes down JMU. Malachi Singleton had a great 271 2 TD came, but what a day for their kicker James London. 4/4 including a GWFG. JMU will see Troy next, App will visit Georgia Southern. App State 34 JMU 31

Stats vs JMU Billy Napier stats vs App state 5-6 overall 2-2 as a player 3-4 as a coach Won his last three games vs App one in 2020, two in 2021. Only win at App came in 2020 during Covid in a rain game with less than 200 people in attendance. I was there. Since joining the Sun Belt, App and JMU are tied in all-time meetings 2-2. Both schools have won at their place and at the opponent’s place. This is the rubber match to see who leaves the series on top in what is probably the last clash between these two opponents in the Sun Belt. JMU has won the 2022 and 2025 matchups vs the Mountaineers, the first one in Boone and the last in Harrisonburg. App won in the 2023 and 2024 matchups, first in Harrisonburg then in Boone. App leads the all-time series 14-6 vs. the Dukes. Apps’ biggest win vs. the Dukes came in 1981 when the Mountaineers won 45-0. JMU’s biggest win came last year when the Dukes won 58-10 vs. the Mountaineers. Both teams won those games at their home stadiums.
