Just an fyi: we were planning to launch registration for the 2025 @SW2con this week, but Hurricane Milton may delay us until next week. But it is coming -- and we can't wait to see all of you there!

I remember that 2001 drop. That was some moment. Suddenly, it felt like only 250 people worked in "software" -- and we all spent most of our time experimenting with "blogs."

FYI: I'm working on rewriting the @sw2con website right now (after what we learned last year), that will lead to save the date/registration launch and sponsor docs. Looking to roll everything out post-labor day.

A bit of history that is left out of this post: Joe Beda presented the concepts that would become Kubernetes at Gluecon in May 2014.
Today Kubernetes turns 10! It's been an amazing journey so far. Thank you to all the contributors, users, & friends who have made this possible! Read our latest blog to explore the history of how Kubernetes became what it is today- kubernetes.io/blog/2024/06/0… #Kubernetes

A huge thank you to the community that showed up to help us build the first year of SW2con.com. The post-show email went out yesterday, and Kim & I are already having our internal discussions about 2025 (while on vacation - cuz, ya know, us). Stay tuned! #sw2con

If you're local to Denver or Boulder and unable to attend all of SW2con, you can attend our AI meetup in partnership with the Rocky Mountain AI Interest Group (RMAIIG). This includes the last 3 keynotes of Day 1, the full evening reception (with all exhibitors, appetizers and an open bar), and then a 2 hour meetup (with Sourcegraph, Vespa and E2B presenting). Cost: $99 bucks. It's a screaming deal, details here: eventbrite.com/e/ai-meet-up-…

Since 2005, Kim and I have been running conferences together. The normal assumption is that there is a "team" behind our shows (Defrag, Gluecon, Blur and now, SW2con). That would be wrong. It's just the two of us, grinding away (and by "the two of us," I mean mostly her). When you get to ~3 weeks out from an event, the world turns into a deluge of details....wifi contracts and AV requirements and rigging in the keynote room and food and beverage orders and signage tweaking and hotel room adjustments and booth decorator operations and and and and.... Basically, you just get into this rhythm of wake up, handle details until you can't handle details anymore that day, go to bed (or have a bourbon, then go to bed). And then all of a sudden -- boom! -- the show date has arrived. None of this is me bitching. There's actually some weird joy in doing all of these detail-y things -- like watching your little monster that you've created slowly be brought to life. Because once you arrive on site, the conference is like an organism with a mind of its own -- and you no longer "control" anything. And the "thing" that you've spent months creating now has a community of humans interested in it, humans who invest their emotional energy into it -- and off it runs. All of this is to say that we're crafting this one with loads of care, and we hope you'll join us at SW2con.com to see how it turns out. See you there! [Originally posted on LI]
