🚨 MASSACRE in oil-rich and disputed ABYEI:
At least 153 people have been killed in a drone strike on a market in the disputed Abyei region, where a fire at a nearby fuel depot continued to burn on Tuesday. Local officials blamed Sudan’s military for Monday’s attack, which also left dozens injured.
The motive for the attack was not immediately clear, and the AP could not independently verify who carried it out.
The oil-rich Abyei region’s status was left unresolved by a 2005 peace agreement that ended decades of civil war and remained unsettled when South Sudan became independent in 2011. A proposed referendum stalled over disagreements about who could vote

Pambalu, a member of Chadema's national council and former leader of the party's youth wing, is accused of intending to "persuade the public to cause obstruction of the General Election" in 2025, the charge sheet read.
The document accused him of "conducting endless protests... for the purpose of intimidating (the) Executive of the Republic of Tanzania."
Pambalu is the second Chadema official to face treason charges after party leader Tundu Lissu. Lissu's trial, seen by observers as largely political, is set to wrap up shortly.
"I'm informed that our John Pambalu has been charged with treason," Chadema's deputy chairperson John Heche told a public meeting in the northern city of Arusha.
"I know that they plan a similar case for me but I will not run away from my own country," Heche said, vowing that Chadema "will fight to the end."

🚨 KENYA - Tremor in Turkana, swallow miners.
Several gold-mining shafts have collapsed in Lomerugo, Turkana County.
It is believed that the cracks and collapsed emerged after an earth tremor in the restive rift valley region, raising fears that several artisanal miners may be trapped underground.
Images from the mining site show extensive cracks running through the dry ground, heightening concerns about the safety of miners believed to have been inside the underground pits when the incident occurred.
Despite the arrival of national government officials and the Kenya Red Cross at the site, no miners had been reported rescued, and no bodies of those feared dead had been retrieved by the time of reporting.
The absence of confirmed rescue outcomes has intensified concerns among those following developments at the gold mines, as uncertainty persists over the fate of the missing miners.
