Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Thursday (October 22) firmly rejected speculation that Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun could be removed from the Cabinet, describing her as one of the key pillars of his government.
Responding to reports about a possible change at the Commerce Ministry, Anutin said: “If Suphajee is to be replaced, then Anutin has to be replaced too.”
He criticised speculation about individual ministers being removed, saying members of the Cabinet were working at full capacity and such reports could affect those carrying out their duties.

At least two major Thai gas contracts with Myanmar are set to expire in 2028 and 2030. Regardless of who was in power, Thailand surely would be there discussing future operations.
Just 10 weeks after #Myanmar's #MinAungHlaing visited #Thailand, #Bangkok has sent its #energy minister @akanat_promphan to #Naypyitaw to meet ex-junta chief turned president to further discuss energy cooperation. Thailand's "calibrated re-engagement" also highly transactional
“This is a defining moment for the international community.”
@UNOPS_Chief spoke to @ChannelNewsAsia on the impacts of climate change & disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz on developing countries – & how UNOPS is working to deliver practical solutions to support people across Asia & beyond 👇
From Gaza to Nepal and Iran to Myanmar - the need for humanitarian support is growing in conflicts and crisis continue to unfold around the world. @UNOPS is helping countries respond to emergencies and support long-term recovery.
@UNOPS_Chief Jorge Moreira da Silva spoke with me on @ChannelNewsAsia during this week's #IMFMeetings Annual Meetings in Bangkok, where he called for a united approach in addressing humanitarian needs.
You obviously have not scrolled further down to see the other stories I’ve posted about the summit all week.
Replying to @SaksithCNA
Really? You’re a credentialed MSM correspondent granted access to the IMF/World Bank conference and your idea of a story is to complain that they didn’t give you a goodie bag?
For Thailand, the #IMFMeetings are also a showcase of Thai soft power - for example these goodie bags with Thai textile appearance. They’re given only to the delegates, and then some to media due to popular demand…
…but only to foreign media…and actual foreigners in foreign media. Thais working for foreign media like me are excluded from taking a piece of Thai soft power home…
What gives, @mofthailand?
A protest march led by the Assembly of the Poor has reached the police blockade at Asoke intersection, preventing them from reaching the IMF-World Bank summit at the QSNCC. After talks with the police, they are allowed to gather in front of the blockade. (Video: Jiratchaya Chaichumkhun)
Activists, led by the Assembly of the Poor, are marching through Bangkok in protest against this week’s IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings. Their destination is the event’s venue at the QNSCC but police have widely blocked the roads leading to it. (Video by Jiratchaya Chaichumkhun)

Thai police have blocked Ratchadaphisek Road for the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings Plenary at the QSNCC today with its MRT station closed until 4pm. One protest group has been camping out at the Rama 4 intersection since yesterday, while police have deployed units and shipping containers towards the Asoke intersection.
The Bangkok Blueprint is being touted as the tentpole document at these #IMFMeetings. Created by the @bankofthailand, @IMFNews and @WorldBankGroup, it's a meant as a guide to combat cyber scams. Two of the IMF co-authors spoke with me @ChannelNewsAsia about what they hope the blueprint can do and what challenges it may be facing.

Protesters opposing the International Monetary Fund (IMF) faced police in Bangkok while trying to reach the annual IMF–World Bank meetings to submit demands.
Police closed roads leading to the conference venue from the Rama IV and Asok intersections, causing long traffic queues.
Police talks with protesters at Rama IV eased traffic somewhat at 8.30am, although it remained unclear whether the group could reach the meeting venue.

Oh great… 🙄
"We're encouraging Iran to respond to the American proposals," says @EgyptForeignMin Badr Abdelatty in my @ChannelNewsAsia interview at the #IMFMeetings. He also tells us why the Middle East crisis is pushing Egypt to foster new partnerships in Asia and why he's advocating for a reform of the global financial architecture.
My journalist friends posts on my feed this week are either from the IMF summit or The Weeknd concert.
That label has been stuck on this country on and off for the past decade plus or so.
