The inshore lizardfish - so ugly that it’s cool looking. They’re super aggressive, and will sometimes launch themselves and a topwater lure out of the water. They bury down in the sand in the bottom of potholes, lying in wait for their next victim. ift.tt/2p2TkaG
Snuck up on this girl as she snacked on spinners in the shade of a bush tight to the bank. The Missouri River headwind was pushing to 20 that day, so I had to wait and deliver the fly between gusts. You don’t have to be a great caster to catch fish, but … ift.tt/2Znm76W
Well, Idaho Dept of Transportation has effectively brought my progress to a screeching halt. 1 hour out from the river, and I’ve been sitting in traffic for 30 minutes. In the middle of nowhere. Like, nowhere. THIS MUST BE WHAT HELL IS LIKE
For you sports fans following along: after forcing down 4 hours of restless sleep in a parking lot, we are back on the road. Decided to add and hour and drive thru the heart of Wy, bc I didn’t drive up here to not see mtns.
Oil changed, tires rotated, full tank of gas - time to make that short 3,000 mile round trip to Bozeman. Fly fishing expo, I’ll see you soon. Local trout take heed.
