DEPUTY CADEN MULLINS WAS 24, AND HE DIED ANSWERING A CALL IN THE TOWN THAT RAISED HIM.
Caden R. Mullins was born and raised in Man, West Virginia. He spent about a year with Charleston PD, then came home to the Logan County Sheriff's Office in August 2025 to be closer to his family. His brother wears the same badge.
Saturday he was leaving a trunk or treat event in Man, heading to an emergency call, when his cruiser and a coal truck collided at Route 10 and Rum Creek Road. He died at the scene. His fiancee was with him and was life-flighted. Her condition hasn't been released. West Virginia State Police are investigating.
Chief Deputy Mike LaFauci told WV MetroNews, "He was a great deputy. He was a hard worker and do anything you asked of him."
The Sheriff's Office says he'll be remembered for his hard work, his dedication to the people of Logan County, and his deep concern for the kids in his community.
Tonight a procession is bringing him from Charleston home to Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home in Man. His funeral is Friday, October 30, at 1pm at Man High School.
