For years, the government has insisted that the increase in whale deaths off the East Coast has no relationship to the wind industry's high-decibel pile driving and boat activity. But now, a new documentary, "Thrown To The Wind," based on new research, will challenge that.
On making climate change local - Communities trust and feel more comfortable with local people in comparison to provincial or federal politicians. That's why we CANNOT fail to overlook local cultural practices, social interactions, and human feelings.

2nd author in a recent MNRF publication! I had the opportunity to model surface water temperature in Ontario inland lakes to help understand how future thermal conditions may impact fish populations and management strategies

Paul McCartney told his followers to watch #Seaspiracy, but #DanielPauly says it ‘takes the very serious issue of the devastating impact of industrial fisheries on life in the ocean & then undermines it with an avalanche of falsehoods’ totallyveganbuzz.com/news/pa… @SeaAroundUs
A couple stream sites from my Master's field work this week!
Elk Creek that runs through a BUNCH of #agricultural land and a pristine reference stream in Chawathil!
Both essential habitat for salmonids 🐟
#nature #ecology #streams #FirstNations
What if land acknowledgements of #FirstNations unceeded territory was backed up by #Action?
Ex. People are getting rich off of real estate market booms for land they don't even own. Let's say a percentage of the profit made goes to the local #FirstNation? Other ideas?
Did you know that a 9-11m #riparian buffer can reduce stream #pollution by a minimum of 75%?
If it was a law to have riparian buffers on #agricultural land we would have healthier #streams and #fish populations!

My #FieldSeason has begun!! SO excited. Thank you Mike for sharing your knowledge on stream geomorphology and health in the Fraser Valley. Definitely saved a load of bush whacking and driving around 😅
If only this small-scale knowledge sharing occurred at a large scale..
