New work at Trampoline Poetry - "Poet at Home, Shares Reflection". Thanks to Barnali Ray Shukla (amazing filmmaker, poet) for creating the photo that inspired the poem, and to Ed. Justin Lacour for believing in the piece. @barnalirays @TrampolinePoet1

From Rolling Stone’s list (2021): The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time…
#119: Marvin Gaye, “I Heard It Through the Grapevine”
This is the second recorded version and the third released – but Gaye’s version made the loudest boom on the charts.

“Come then. Leave your war awhile, paper or iron war, petrol or flesh, come in with your love, your fear of losing, your exhaustion with it. All day it’s been at you, coercing, jiving, claiming your belief in so much that isn’t true.”

Light makes way like fire
Angela Ball

ALT SO IT GOES Thinking, you start in front of a store. All day: rain. Workmen shout behind glistening planks. Then you face a highway, quadrants of light, trees hanging in lakes, the sky’s landscape. Light makes way like fire catching a woman’s hair, curtains twisting through a window. Until your room and the sky flat between curtains recall your one name.

Love how non-humanness feels so deeply human, the transformation, and unexpected shift in POV in this autumnal poem 🤍
