Saving Sunshine by @saadiafaruqi, illustrated by @shazleenmkhan is a @01firstsecond graphic novel about Muslim American siblings who must learn how to stop fighting & support each other in a world that is often unkind: buff.ly/47QQ96S
Saadia gave us the inside scoop, 🧵:

ALT Picture of a hard copy of the graphic novel Saving Sunshine resting on bright pink fabric. The art on the cover features two siblings—a brown-skinned Pakistani American boy and girl—sittting side by side next to a giant sea turtle on a beach. They are staring out at the ocean as the waves lap against the shore; the boy has his feet in the water. The girl is wearing a pink hijab, orange long-sleeved shirt, and jeans. The boy is wearing jeans and a purple tee with an orange circle and the word “MARS” on it. The sky behind them has layers of clouds in a gradient of sunset colors reaching up towards a stretch of deep purple scattered with stars.
Covid cases are up, please mask and protect each other and get a booster in the fall (it’s gonna be updated to match the current variants.) It's part of living with a virus but we can weather the waves.

Covid is going up pretty significantly everywhere right now, so I say this as a caution, not for sympathy: my life is nearly unrecognizable since I got Covid in 2022. I have what’s considered very mild long Covid. What does that mean?…
People who have (government owned) student loans, you absolutely need to apply for the SAVE plan which is the new Income-Driven Repayment plan that the Biden Administration put through. THERE IS STILL LOAN FORGIVENESS. I did it and here’s what I found out: a 🧵
Biden is not the most popular president by far and he wasn’t my first choice but his administration did this. This is progress, despite a Supreme Court that wants us all indentured to impossible-to-pay loans. This is genuine improvement. Real change.
Please go apply, it takes 10 minutes and you might be surprised. Everyone’s situation will be different, but I’m cautiously optimistic that it’s much more fair than it was before.
