Netanyahu on Türkiye and Syria: I decided that we would establish a "security zone" in Syria against the possibility of a "jihadist invasion" from the Syrian area. And in northern Syria there is Türkiye; it has a certain area there. I do not want to see Türkiye coming south. I said this, and I conveyed it to the "Syrian regime" as well: do not come down, do not let them come south. I conveyed it to the Turks too. There was a certain status quo, but they broke the status quo, or intended to break it. I sent a message — through the Americans, through other means, and also directly to Syria — that we will not tolerate Turkish military entrenchment at an airfield south of the area where Türkiye is currently located. Apparently that message was not received, and we had to demonstrate it in what we call, in our jargon, kinetic ways. So we conveyed it in kinetic ways.
