Grateful to @RC_Southwark for giving me a second session with its clergy at the Day of Formation in London. Pope Leo XIV has asked priests to resist preparing homilies with AI. In "AI: Ongoing Dialogue and Papal Teaching", I explain what I think that means in practice. AI can help a priest find what the Fathers and Doctors said about a passage, and once he's prayed and decided what to say, it can help him say it well. What it can't do is write the homily for him. Leaderboard finally launched! Been looking forward to this getting out there for a long while. Hopefully it increases awareness and conversation about how the Church is doing around the world and exploration of how we can work with our shepherds to build-up the Church. Link to try it out in comments. “Every diocese and every country, ranked by the statistics the Church itself reports. The Catholic Leaderboard shows baptisms, ordinations, seminarians, deacons, religious and more, how each has changed year over year, and which dioceses publish their financial reports. Those reports are in Magisterium AI too, so you can ask questions about them: an overview of one diocese, or a comparison between two. Built in the spirit of transparency, as an invitation to learn and engage.”

Pacing AI makes sense. I tend to agree that the best way to pace AI is simply to ensure the AI companies are liable for the AIs activities. It's a complicated issue.
