Truly, and I can't emphasize this enough, the best thing you can do in politics is to build real friendships. This business is too transactional. Focus on connecting with your people.

"Days before the Nov. 3 election, the Democratic fiancé of former Senate hopeful Haley Stevens declared he intends to vote for Republican Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate, saying he's become convinced over the last three months that Democrat Abdul El-Sayed is an antisemite."

Let's talk about a longtime DC resident who owned a property for which she was unable to collect rent, and whether we think what she went through is just. Veronica Hegens, 59, bought a row house in DC many years ago. Smart investment, right? She lived in it for years until she decided to rent it out when she had to move in with her own father to care for him. Hegens is a retired Army major. At first, her renter, a participant in the city's voucher program, worked out fine. Most of his rent was paid by the city's taxpayers ($2,600/month). Her renter then notified her he would vacate. All good, Hegens was prepared to find another tenant. But the renter died shortly before his move-out date. Upon his unexpected death, Hegens discovered his girlfriend, who had never signed a lease, was occupying the property with no intent to leave. DC's rules for what qualifies one as a "tenant" are lax, so a person without a lease occupying the apartment gets a lot of legal considerations. The girlfriend had not paid rent for 6 months at the time local news covered Hegens' plight. When Hegens, the owner of the property, changed the locks on the property, the girlfriend took her to court and received a temporary restraining order and was able to stay in the property. Hegens fell behind on her mortgage without rental income, was coming close to foreclosure, and became less and less able to make repairs due to financial strain and the girlfriend's obstinate occupancy. Hegens had to pay for court expenses and was charged fines by the city for not keeping up with her responsibilities while the unemployed girlfriend lived in her property. There are groups that give free legal services to people like the girlfriend. In March of 2026, Hegens and the girlfriend went to mandated mediation. The mediator told the girlfriend to vacate, but with ANOTHER 4 months to find new housing. She was asked to pay minimal rent during that time (about 1/5 of what the actual tenant had paid). The girlfriend finally moved out of the unit in June— a total of 9 months of zero or minuscule rent for Hegens on the property she owns. Hegens credits local news coverage with the resolution of her case in a relatively timely manner. A local advocate for small landlords says many such cases take more than a year to reach any kind of resolution.
Every year, thousands of DC residents lose their homes over unpaid rent. Most owe less than $5,000. Going to court is stressful for tenants, expensive for landlords, and slows down the system. We need a better way to resolve rent issues. 🧵⬇️

Imagine a bunch of Dem consultants sitting around a table, and this is the strategy they came up with. Why not throw in a lookalike contest while we're at it?

I am a proud and loyal Democrat. I served in President Clinton’s National Security Council and worked for Madeleine Albright at the State Department. I ran for Congress as a Democrat, have voted Democratic all my life, and expect to continue doing so. But I would never vote for Abdul El-Sayed. In my judgment, he does not represent the values of our party or our nation. I urge my fellow patriotic Democrats in Michigan to leave the Senate line blank or vote for Republican Mike Rogers. This is an exceptional case, and I do not make this recommendation lightly. We can support Democratic majorities nationally while refusing to support a candidate who violates our core values. Loyalty to our party should strengthen our principles, never require us to abandon them.

Notice how El-Sayed never lays out a plan to fulfill his campaign promises in the Senate. You can't fund radical ideas without bankrupting the country.
Abdul El-Sayed's campaign is just economic incoherence wrapped up in anti-Semitism.

Not sure what Ralph Norman is doing here. Not sure you can claim the mantle of "only true conservative" when your actions here exclusively help Democrats running in your state. It's transing kids Annie Andrews or Darline Graham. Those are the only choices.
Asked Ralph Norman why #scsen race is so close — and he took a shot at Annie Andrews, Darline Graham and Trump. He also contended Graham is not a “true conservative.” (She says she is and makes that central in her campaign speeches.) Norman, who lost to Graham in primary and didn’t get the Trump endorsement, said in a text: “The voters in South Carolina are not buying the argument that everyone has to ‘settle’ for a candidate that has been propped up by special interest groups and a Republican president spending millions of dollars spreading false narratives about why Darline Graham is qualified to be elected to the U.S. Senate for the next six years!!” He added: “This election is about attempts to ‘force’ a candidate on the voters of S.C. And regardless of the outcome, it didn’t have to be this way as the great people living in South Carolina deserve ‘better!’” About his son saying there’s no true conservative in the race, Norman wrote: “Warren is EXACTLY RIGHT in his statement!!! My entire family is NOT SUPPORTING her candidacy.”

I’m sorry, no. Under this proposal, D.C. taxpayers would cover thousands of $$$ in unpaid rent while landlords would be forced to forgive a third of someone’s debt—because going to court is “stressful”? Life is stressful. You still have to pay your bills.

Something that is very concerning: I mentioned Trump Accounts casually today to my followers and almost no one knew what I was talking about. This is arguably one of the coolest achievements of the Trump admin and I’ve got half a million moms confused and asking me a ton of questions or claiming they’ve never heard of it. I think we have a serious marketing problem and there is a missing link between how the admin touts wins on X vs Instagram where all the young moms are. They aren’t on X. And they literally have no idea about any wins we’ve had.

On November 3rd, Washington, D.C. residents will be asked whether foie gras should be outlawed in the nation's capital. I asked my fellow D.C. residents to VOTE NO on INITIATIVE 86. If you really are worried about animal cruelty, you should take greater issue with how pigs and chickens are raised in America, not at the process of gavage, which is far more physiologically different from what people imagine. I have added a link below for those concerned. As a foie gras fan, and as an investor in a restaurant which happily and intentionally serves it, I urge you not to take this culinary delight away from your fellow residents. Vote NO on 86 on November 3rd, and send a message to the anti-joy brigade.
