The Supreme Court has granted Tower Hamlets Council permission to appeal the ruling that removing Bethnal Green's LTNs was unlawful.
We are disappointed, but undeterred.
We won at the Court of Appeal and we'll fight this too, but we need your support.

When the US sanctioned me for exposing corporate complicity, I trusted people would act. If after nearly a year @bookingcom & @Airbnb still profit from stolen Palestinian property, it’s because too many still use them.
Stop using them now & tell them why.

Four years ago to this day, Lutfur Rahman was elected on a ticket to remove all of Tower Hamlets' LTNs and safer streets. Four years on, they all remain. People prefer safer streets.
Ted Maxwell from our campaign is standing for election in Bethnal Green tomorrow. He led our Court of Appeal victory because he listens to what residents want.
If you live in Bethnal Green West, vote for someone who fights for our community 💚

Arnold Circus LTN, a peaceful oasis in the East End surrounded by social housing. Once, it was plagued by speeding cars & antisocial behaviour. Thanks to a campaign by @SaveBGstreets it has been saved. Once you remove the through traffic, no one wants it to return to its past
Why this matters: Without these safeguards, an incoming council could waste millions ripping out infrastructure the day after it's installed, regardless of public support. That's not democracy.
It would also make it impossible for London to have a unified city wide transport like Paris, Barcelona and Amsterdam.
We would have 33 conflicting transport strategies in one city. 🤯
Excellent coverage from @airqualitynews of our Court of Appeal victory.

This is what leadership looks like.
Thank you for standing firm on safer streets when it would have been easier to cave to populist pressure.
The Court of Appeal ruling vindicates your transport strategy and protects communities across London. 💚
Another example of us doing what is right for Londoners:
More liveable neighbourhoods
Healthier communities
Fewer collisions
Fewer deaths and serious injuries
Change isn’t easy, but I’m willing to make tough choices to make our city safer. standard.co.uk/news/london/l…
Absolutely right.
Since our LTNs were introduced: rat run traffic was massively reduced, serious injuries virtually eliminated, anti-social behaviour down.
This victory belongs to the thousands of residents who refused to accept that our safer streets could just be ripped out.
The Court of Appeal's judgement stopping Tower Hamlets from ripping out safety infrastructure is good news for Londoners.
It's good for road safety & reducing danger. It's good for air quality, good for health, and good for communities across the capital.

After 2+ years of legal battles, the Court of Appeal has ruled in our favour.
Tower Hamlets cannot lawfully remove our safer streets. A huge precedent for London.
