“Every war is a war on children. All children have the right to access a safe education, and schools should always be a haven for children – not a battlefield. Every effort must now be made to prevent further escalation in the Middle East,” Inger Ashing, CEO of @Save_Children

The generosity we saw this Giving Tuesday was incredible — so many people from coast to coast to coast stood up and supported our global neighbours. Thank you. Truly. Canada is a caring country and our community makes sure our global neighbours don’t face crises alone. Together we’ve set a strong foundation for the work ahead of us. Thank you for your generosity. Because of you, the Humanitarian Coalition and our 12 members have more resources to provide food, shelter, clean water, hygiene supplies across the globe. With presence in 160 countries, our members are able to respond to humanitarian crises within hours.

The many Palestinians who have been evacuated to Egypt include children who urgently need medical care. During a hospital visit, Sec Sarai saw how @SavetheChildren—supported by Canada—is working to make sure every child gets the treatment they need.

🌧️ In the wake of devastating floods and landslides that have affected 800,000 people in Vietnam, our member @SaveChildrenCan is stepping up to support those who are most at risk. Through emergency cash assistance and community training, they’re helping families — especially those with children, pregnant women and people with disabilities — rebuild their lives with dignity. Canada’s credibility is on the line in #Budget2025. Foreign aid isn’t just generosity—it’s security, trust, and leadership. Cuts would cost lives and our reputation. Protect aid, protect Canada. #AidWorks #Budget2025

The position of the aid sector is clear - No cuts to Foreign Aid in #Budget2025 🍁 Our values = our strength. 💰 Aid isn’t charity — it’s strategy. 🌍 Canada can’t claim global leadership while slashing 15% from aid. nationalnewswatch.com/2025/1… – at Chelsea, Québec

Aid saves lives. Aid builds peace. Aid boosts trade. Foreign aid reflects Canada’s best self. If we let it be cut in the next Budget, we risk losing more than dollars—we risk losing who we are. #Budget2025 #AidWorks

During a disaster, all people need safe drinking water, clean washrooms, and hygiene products to stay healthy. Unfortunately, women and girls face added risks and challenges when meeting these basic needs. For #GenderEqualityWeek, let’s look at these issues and how the Humanitarian Coalition’s members are responding to them in #Gaza. Without safe and private washrooms, women and girls are more vulnerable to assault and abuse. They also need privacy to manage menstrual hygiene, pregnancy and postpartum bleeding. @SaveChildrenCan listened to female community leaders and installed a barrier to separate sanitary facilities by gender. @CanLWR improved safety and privacy by installing lights and doors in shelter bathrooms. Women and girls are often responsible for collecting water, which can be difficult and dangerous. @OxfamCanada and @OxfamQuebec had both female and male volunteers monitor water taps to make sure that women, children, older people and people with disabilities could access water without facing discrimination or safety concerns.  Women and girls in Gaza are still facing extreme water, sanitation and hygiene challenges. We need to make sure their voices are heard and their needs are put first. Learn more: humanitariancoalition.ca/gaz… 📸 : Shaima Al-Obaidi / Save the Children
