Yikes! From the 1950s until the early 1970s, Suffolk University freshmen were required to wear beanies --and bow down to upperclassmen -- during their first weeks of school.

TRAIL TO THE TEA PARTY: Today’s Boston Tea Party lesson is all about plausible deniability: As protestors in disguise made their way to the waterfront to dump tea in the harbor, political leaders remained at the Old South Meeting House so they could claim they were not involved.
Ahead of the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, Suffolk professor and noted Boston historian Bob Allison takes us for walk along the Freedom Trail. Today, we learn that one of our Founding Fathers was never referred to as “Sam” – and he certainly did not make beer.

Squeal! This is the site where our very own 73 Tremont now sits. The Tremont House's claim to luxury? It was the first hotel in Boston with indoor running water...
Yesterday's #mysteryphoto shows the Tremont House Hotel in 1895. Thanks for playing, folks! Here's a link to a high quality version of the photo: cityofboston.access.preservi… @universalhub @HUBhistory

With the incorporation of @Suffolk_U in 1937, Founder Gleason Archer sought a signature melody for the new school. He asked several confidants deemed to have musical talent. 6 options for the official “University song” resulted. Here's 'Ave, Suffolk!' by F. Morse Wemple in 1938.
