Denmark spends $6 million per combat soldier because actually fighting a war is fairly low on their military priority list, typical for Europe.
El Salvador has ~6X the combat soldiers, at $30k cost each, because it views combat as much more likely.

Suspect you'd find that Danish politicians asked not what the Army was for, but what it could do for them.
And the answer was likely 'recruit and overpromote women so we can look all trendy on reddit, if anyone ever asks'.
'Cyber warfare is our priority' because the girs are good at sending mean tweets and not so great with a bayonet... Etc.
And if it happens that the previous frequent warfare were to return to Central America, I believe that Bukele intends to come out on top.

That works out to $6 million per combat soldier. Part of that is the expensive weapons systems. But, much of it is the very expensive tail to tooth ratio. For every combat soldier, Denmark employs five people in the tail, with 25% being a jobs program for women.

Paying ransoms just encourages more kidnappings. Try to free the four hostages. If they die in the attempt, hunt down & kill the gang members. Miraculous reduction in kidnappings thereafter. Bukele has more freedom in this area in Haiti than El Salvador.

Military operation to save people from ruthless gangs doesn't sound like a good idea. Just pay the ransom and get them back. Sadly, that is the only safe way.
This is the whole forced urbanization & mass transit debate in a single post. The very same people who want to force living in packed urban areas & trains instead of cars, have no solution to violent attacks other than freeing the criminals without bail.

Devon Jones, a convicted felon on an ankle monitor, has been sentenced to 10 years for attacking and robbing a pregnant woman in a Chicago CTA tunnel...but will likely be out by 2030
In August 2025, prosecutors asked Judge Susana Ortiz to hold him until trial. She refused. She only put him on electronic monitoring. He broke the conditions of his release, but was allowed to stay out. Then he attacked the woman. Here's how it went down:
> Aug. 19-26, 2025: left home without permission on 7 days
> Kept on release anyway
> Sept. 8: missed court, warrant issued
> Oct. 4: pregnant woman attacked, iPad stolen
All of it was avoidable. He did it anyway.
And his expected parole? Oct. 10, 2030. But we know the Democrats will try to let him out even faster
Democrats are pro-crime
There's no way to reconcile the talking points when it means on a 100% predictable basis, women are attacked, raped & murdered on the mass transit. People can't be forced to live & travel closer together until the violence issue can be solved.

Cage fight: Denmark vs El Salvador, whose gonna win? People turn out to be very interested in a Latin American country rapidly deploying troops long distance, not in character. How would that compare to Europe? Denmark & El Salvador each have ~6M people, so a good comparison.

of actual fighting men under arms.
Now, I would never expect Denmark & El Salvador to actually fight, LOL. Nonetheless, as the tide of war spreads across Africa, SW Asia and Europe, even while the hegemony ends, these sorts of things may not remain theoretical for long.

What's developed in the thread below is critical for understanding the actual military strength of Europe & Canada, and why spending as a percent of GDP means so little.
Denmark spends $15B per year to field one half strength mechanized brigade of ~2.5k combat soldiers.

The next level is to look at actual fighting soldiers, tooth vs tail, as well as females. Denmark has a very large, very expensive tail, and a remarkably small tooth - a single half strength mechanized brigade, with ~2.5k actual fighting soldiers. Their defense is ~25% women.

For El Salvador, the annual cost per fighting solider is about $30k per year. Yes, wages are lower, and they are more lightly armed. The other really big difference is that each person in the tail supports 1.8 people in the tooth. So the support to infantry ratio is~10X.
