Mrs. Scherman

No matter how you slice it, today is a monumental recalibration of the political environment. The American public wholesale rejected Trump’s corruption and incompetence. It’s clear the public hates the insane gas prices, the starting of a forever war with no goals, the President and his family making money off the office, and that Trump is more concerned about pools and ballrooms than the economy. Trump may be down, but he’s not out. He still has the power of the veto, and has demonstrated his commitment to making changes without bothering going through the legislative and legal process. Right wing nationalism and MAGA is not going anywhere. The racism, sexism and authoritarianism isn’t defeated today. That will require a continued and sustained effort to root it out and ensure that our democratic institutions continue to hold. Democrats need to take advantage of the moment and continue to work for the American people. This means forging a path on the economy and fighting the corruption inherent to this Administration.
