The Division of Organic Chemistry is excited for the upcoming ACS Conference in San Diego! Thanks to our amazing program director Scott Bagley (@BagPhos ) we have this amazing grid for all organic sessions. Print and share with your friends!
Congratulations Neil & team! Fun fact: Bredt was for 26 years a professor in Aachen, as successor of Claisen. His adopted daughter, Maria Lipp, became the first woman to receive a PhD in Aachen (in 1918) and later, in 1938, was Aachen’s first female professor.
Thrilled to share our new study of anti-Bredt olefins in @ScienceMagazine. Congrats to the authors for this nicely timed study, 100 yrs after “Bredt’s Rule” came to be. Read it here: science.org/doi/10.1126/scie… @ucla @uclachem @houk1000

With a smile in one eye and a tear in the other, I’m saying goodbye to @Schoenebeck_Lab and @RWTH_Aachen. I’m deeply grateful for the friendships I’ve made and the growth I’ve experienced, it´s been a fantastic time!
Ever wondered how to put a trifluoromethyl group on nitrogen? Thought methods to make N-CF3 compounds are scarce? Check out our group's developments in the area to access N-CF3 amines, amides, carbamates, ureas, hydrazines, indoles, oxindoles, quinolones, formamides & beyond:
Check out this overview of our work with AgOCF3: a direct quantitative synthesis starting from the solids triphosgene and AgF & applications in (i) substitutions to make R-OCF3 compounds or (ii) as precursor to O=CF2 to access alkyl/aryl, NCF3 & NCF2H carbamoyl fluorides.
Fantastic organization and chemistry at the 26th IUPAC conference on Phys Org in Beijing and what a brilliant hospitality too! Great to catch up with our former group members Guoyin, Xiangyu, Hong-gang & Maoping. #pekingduck #forbiddencity #greatwallofchina
